So you know when you make jokes with your mates and say nasty things to each other and you find it funny, yeah i’m sure we all do it and i find it quite fun.
Now with people you don’t know properly and have never done this with, in fact people who you do not even get along with.
They call you a cunt or something ridiculous and when you tell them they’re rude and nasty they use the ‘god can’t you take a joke’. Seriously take a look at yourself, you can’t fall back on the joke thing because you’re an asshole i’m afraid, maybe it works in your ignorant bubble but in reality you are being nasty.
Reminds me of early manaman :laugh_at:
I’m sure i’ve done it before but you live and learn everyday and i think i’ve been young enough at the the times to not be a complete fail :bounce_fl
June 6, 2012 at 7:27 pm #1254276U just can’t take a joke.
June 6, 2012 at 7:52 pm #1254279You know those people just have such a higher level of funniness then me, i mean ‘you’re a fucking cunt’ it’s just comedy gold. why didn’t i think of that? forget bill hicks, jimmy car, george carlin all of those fool… they are nothing on ‘letting out your own insecurities on others’.
June 6, 2012 at 8:12 pm #1254273I used to know a few people like this, and its always really nasty stuff they try and pull off as funny too, not your typical joke
horrid
I dont see them any more
June 6, 2012 at 8:38 pm #1254282I’m normally quite acerbic and sarcastic, which some people take as me being rude, but I’m not, its just the way my humor is….

I’m incredibly sarcastic and rude in an extreme and funny way (so I believe) at times (read drunk!)- however with my friends and people who know me, (but I hope) – never out of order….
June 6, 2012 at 10:34 pm #1254283I’m only out of order when its needed if that makes sense. I’m one to speak his mind.’I like what I say and I say what I like’ is the phrase I guess
June 6, 2012 at 11:10 pm #1254287…
June 6, 2012 at 11:39 pm #1254275I am often told ‘she says it how it is’…… I dont think that is necessarily wrong
as I dont think I’m(often) out of order…
June 6, 2012 at 11:42 pm #1254284I’m never wrong :p
June 7, 2012 at 12:43 pm #1254286I’m doing a bit of part time work in a kitchen at the moment, all the guys there have been working together for years, and are really friendly, but like they welcomed me to their tight little group really quickly, I also had to adjust to the fact that they’re permenantly going one step further to see who can be the most obscenely offensive to each other, to the point where it can’t possibly be taken seriously. I was a bit taken aback at first but it is just a laugh, and a good leveller, being able to call your boss a cross eyed inbred felcher is a good thing haha. Got a little bit too far when we started throwing lobsters at each other all over the place but it was still a laugh haha. I suppose the thing about it is environment. If you’re just one bloke being offensive because you think it’s funny or whatever and everyone else is being civil with each other then that’s not cool and will just make you look like a dickhead.

I think that if you insult someone then when they get upset and blame them for not taking a joke then it’s pretty silly, maybe if they were too dim to see a proper joke in what you said then it’s fair to point it out but ‘you are a fat prick’ isn’t very funny to be honest is it. But i can still find being called a fat prick funny but in the grand scheme of things it’s pretty bloody stupid and i wouldn’t blame anyone for not thinking it’s funny or missing the humour.
June 7, 2012 at 2:17 pm #1254277~With my humor (as I can be a little offensive sometimes for lolz – although I try to keep it clever and not fall into just blatant insults) I try to go by the rules, it’s ok if they “can take it” … as in I’d make fun of someone who I know canh hack it and will take it as a joke, but someone with less self esteem and not in the right mind set, I’d not make the same kinda joke to. Like moony says it’s all about the person you’re having the joke with, if they on the same level as you, then it’s fine. You have to watch out though, even changing moods of people can make things like this a no go area.
I got a mate what is in constant piss taking mode, and he pisses people off because of it, he doesn’t see when people aren’t in the mood for it, carries on, and ends up alienating people. Also he doesn’t like it when people rip it out of him half the time anymore, but still tries to “dish it out” like he’s always done. a lot of people don’t like this either. If you’re gonna go down the road of “piss taker” then you have to be of “bullet proof” mentality imo and also a little vidulent as to how the other person is feeling, if they not laughing… IT’S NOT A FUCKING JOKE!.

yeh, with these things it works two ways, 1 good 1 bad and just depends if someone has your interests (or you have their interests) or not. i feel the more free i am to joke/have banter/ the more i feel like there no lines that cant be crossed, the more i feel close to someone… so sometimes sounding really rude can be showing the strength of a friendship bond… or another way to look at is if a friendship is very well mannered n polite it can seem quite distant, like you have lots of lines that you dont know if its ok to cross etc… like say a good friend bumps into you, and instead of being like ‘oh, terribly sorry old bean’ you’re like ‘watch it you fucking klutz’ …conversely joking can be as p0ly said
like daft cant really joke with me yet, cos he seems to think i take everything to heart… that said, im not made of stone lol

They call you a cunt
Good immediate return “It’s cunts like me that make pricks like you stand to attention. I SAID STAND TO ATTENTION!” 🙂
Works better on ex-service types.
As for whether someone can take banter and humour – depends on how tough/fragile they’re feeling at the time. Not a constant state. Also, humour can be pretty individual – what one person finds funny, another person finds quite sick and disgusting.

my younger brother has just joined up full time, he’ll be in Afghanistan by november/December time, might try this when he gets back. It’s not going to be a case of if, as he is top of his unit and pick of the crop for sds/sas service……the knob head gets to play with L1156A1 sniper rifles and I don’t…..its not fair I tell you!!!!
