If I’m not mistaken planes onle make big trails when they perpously have certain gas canisters releacing “smoke” behind them?

A plane when past a minit ago and has left some FAT slice line in the sky … brb taking pic ….

Hi Daft and all else ,
Right when a plane …prop , turbo prop ….jet …ram jet ….rocket …..and fuck me i dont know what it is but its fucking hot !!! Hits high altituded bear in mind the pressure changes from day to day area to area you get condensation . Trust me a con trail …….or condensation trail is normal . Now if that trail falls to earth …..you smell or taste a sudden odour ….people or wild life begin to act weird etc ….then if not trust me it is just a CONDENSATION TRAIL !!!! . A chemical weapon to be realised at such a height and be effective would be huge amounts ……so why not deliver it low level …less amounts and less warning ?

                Just my view

                regards

I see these all the time =/. Before I moved to the UK I never saw these at all though, I was like wtf are they spraying or shit?
Then a friend told me it’s just some condensation thing happening…

Interesting that you mention this though… Is that ‘cloud’ bigger than usual or have you never seen this phenomena(?) before? @Daftvader

Contrails (11px-Loudspeaker.svg.png /ˈkɒntrlz/; short for “condensation trails”) or vapour trails are artificial clouds that are the visible trails of condensed water vapour made by the exhaust of aircraft engines. As the hot exhaust gases cool in the surrounding air they may precipitate a cloud of microscopic water droplets or, if the air is cold enough, tiny icecrystals.[1]
The wingtip vortices which trail from the wingtips and wing flaps of aircraft are sometimes partly visible due to condensation in the cores of the vortices. Each vortex is a mass of spinning air and the air pressure at the centre of the vortex is very low. These wingtip vortices are not the same as contrails.
Depending on atmospheric conditions, contrails may be visible for only a few seconds or minutes, or may persist for many hours which may affect climate.[2

Looks beautiful until you see a plane fly past you when you’re in a plane and see the big black fumy shit trail they also produce 🙁

Ahh ok … it’s just that other then at air shows the only trails i’ve seen have been from the really high altitude planes, this one was really low flying … I vuagely remebered someone saing that they are perpously made … but I now have a feeling I was remebering a conversation purely about airshow planes (as they ofc make trails on perpous with gas canisters there so people can see where the plane has just been)

yeah man … red arrows are so cool, I allways wanted to fly one when I was a kid. But you not only have to of been in the RAF for many years and be one of the best pilots, you allso have to be one of the “old boys” club. The really posh dudes who’s farthers have been pilots and so have thier fathers etc etc.

I’ve flown a small plane once and was shitting my pants, this was with a massive hang over tho so my nerves were shot to pieces allready lol.

                                        Hi Daftfader ,
No in an emergency an airacraft has to be a certain weight to land …so if its just took off its heavily ladened with fuel it cant just turn around and land . So depending on the emergency it can either ……dump fuel !!!! …..usually on the airliners from the wing tips or some from the tail , usually not behind the engines for obvious reasons !!! ……a 747 flame thrower isnt a good idea lol . Or it can circle and burn the fuel …..although if your on a flight from UK to America ….8 hours of going around in circles might get a bit much so fuel dumps are common . Normally they try to dump fuel away from populated areas or at height where the fuel will dissapate , but if the shits hit the fan they will dump any where …..would you rather droplets of fuel or a airlinner coming down on your house fully fuelled !!!! …..but thats another thread lol .

Also as extraslim said wing tips , flaps and propeller tips on aircraft or rotors on helicopters will produce under certain atmospheric conditions a vapour trail . APU’s or GTS’s ….basically the same thing a small jet engine that starts the engines …..like a starter motor . On certain aircraft can produce a vapour trail ….not all just some . The smoke emitted from engines can be the age of the engine …..older jet engines smoked like a chimney !!!! . However also the type of fuel !! , some fuels have different mixes of aviation fuel and anti freeze . That is to say the higher you go the colder it gets , hence a cessna 172 dont leave lot of smoke behind it unless its on fire !!! . Yet some High altitude Aircraft leave a tell tale smoke trail …….this can be because the anti freeze …….but if it didnt it would freeze !!!! and back to the fully fuelled airlinner on ya roof !!! .

Just what ive learnt from my job is all

                                              Hi Gaz ,
Yep you is right ailerons …do the roll …left and right ….elevators …up and down …..and rudder yaw . Although in really humid climates any part of the air frame can cause vapour trails . To see the effects of air frames i reckon sit at the approach end of a runway on a low cloud day and just watch the clouds swirl as the plane passes through them . Now dont be laying down at the end of a runway as you might get arrested , but on the other side of the fence …its impressive . And listen as well as well after the plane has gone you can hear the vortices ….swirls of air from the wing tips whistle…..now ive bored you enough with this lol . Sad i know

Mate i have watched planes like 747 and antonovs 124 take off and still think….how did that get off the ground !!! …..the bigger they are the slower they look !! . Worked around planes since i was 18 …..i still am surprised lol . Been knocked on my ass a few times from the jet efflux as well …..it aint fun !!! . And i hate helicopters …..those puppies just wanna shake them selves to bits …..also im tall and those rotors sag !!! ….ever seen a man crawl to a helicopter !!! thats me …..blade sail ….killed many a person !!! . However still love me job 🙂

wish piston driven motors were used commercially today, the shier crudeness of an old V12 Merlin could with todays metal quality and manufacturing methods, a once 1800-2000 BHP motor into a 4500-6000+ bhp motors. supercharger technology has advanced loads, like, blocks, piston heads, piston rings, cranks cams blah blah blah….. so yeah, the rolls royce V12 could be a BANGIN’ psycho killer death trap motor lol

AN-124 ….yep used alot one of the big jet engined cargo carriers . Once looked around one when i was abroad !!! the tires were down to the wire . Seems Vodka Fuelled air lines dont change tires till they burst !!! , seen the damage caused by a burst tire and by hot wheel brakes …same result boom tire explodes !!! …..very messy . Big old plane though ……its mad to think that that with a shed load of freight can get in the air …..yet it does !!!! .
