Just figured I’d finish off my trinity of booze with a thread of peoples favourite wine.
I’m a big wine drinker but my funds are limited at the moment so I have to be careful about what I buy. Anyway if its a white I’m quite a fan of San Michele Appiano’s pinot grigio

or a nice bottle of Sauvignon blanc.
As for teh reds its a complicated one I will drink as much chateau neuf du pape as I can afford,a lthough I can rarely afford a bottle nice enough to warrant spending the money on it. I find anything about £10-£20 is usually lacking the full flavour and body of a good bottle almost making it pointless buying them.
So for standard table wine its got to be either the Barbera Ascheri D’alba that they have a Oddbins. I find it goes really well with pork especially when cooked with a lot of garlic or tomato.

For my meatier meals I like a bottle of hautes-cotes du beaune like this a very distinctive burgundy red which really suits my style of cooking. Its not too full bodied to over power the subtle flavours of a dish but again it has enough to compete with a good hunk of almost any red meat.

I’ve recently discovered that the Rioja wines are a good one to try if you want a wine thats drinkable without paying through the nose like you often would with French or Italian wines.
