Here goes:
Was Emily right to use the n-word? Will Shilpa be making a comeback? What do you think of Char be getting off with whatsisname.
Do you really give a damn?
I don’t.
I doubt anyone else does either. This sort of shit just incites hate at one extreme and apathy to the things that really matter at another extreme. It takes the piss out of everything.
So are we all really hooked on BB or is it just some made-up statistic that says we are all gagging to watch ineffectual fops battle it out for popularity ratings on CCTV, or at least, watch them sleeping.
June 7, 2007 at 5:29 pm #1112576I tend to watch it if I’m at home – dont bust a gut if I miss it and dont stay in esp for it – like some people I know
Its a load of bollox and I dont take it seriously,
generally the ‘wankers’ in there (and not all are) –
make me feel much more intellegent and good about my self than I usually do – as they tend to act rather idiotically and make themselves look rather dumb :you_crazy:hopeless::you_crazy

June 7, 2007 at 5:33 pm #1112570still not watched a second of it..
it is literally part of bringing in an Orwellian society, it is the “15 minute hate” from 1984 but extended, and along with the tabloids also getting people to stitch up each other (think of what happened with the rat cage, if you have read the actual book)..

O i just thought i’d add the sample script of BB series #1,342 (this is the LAST series, honest!), dateline: 2045.
The scene: Cherise has just chopped up her 2 month old baby and chucked “it” in the bin.
Shana: Cher you go girl, don’t let anyone try to rule your life! I heard that celebrity whatsername did the same thing this year too, l think it’s the “in” thing this Summer.
Cherise: I know, it was making so much noise as well, even Daz couldn’t sleep and we all know how hard it is to wake him up. Thanks for backin me up Shana i’d be lost without you, you’re always there for me hun, and at the end of the day that’s what life’s all about, you know, having someone what’s always on your side.
Meanwhile: Gaz and Baz are arguing heatedly in front of the TV. Are they discussing the latest massacre of civilians in the far-off land of X, as part of War Y, against the terror of Z? No, they are betting over a sports event. In the course of the discussion, Gaz uses the P-word on Baz, which coincides quite nicely with the yet another taxi driver being stabbed to death in a random release of frustration, in Doncaster or somewhere.
Later that night: Cherise is in the kitchen. She is looking for her midnight fix of oh-so-yummy Belgian Choc Haagen-Dasz. She delves into her Weight-Watchers-approved portion whilst listening to Nonstop FM on the little kitchen stereo, pauses, then suddenly breaks down in tears when recalling how she chopped up Waynetta and chucked her in the bin.
It’s ok though, Daz walks in on her in the kitchen and manages to find out what’s wrong with our Cher, then they hug. Shana walks in because she heard Daz and Cher talking and wanted to know what was going on.
Shana: Awww Cher, you mean so much to me hun, l’ve never seen you this upset. Lemme give you a huggle too babes.
[Shana and Cherise hug, and Daz puts his arms around both of them. Is this a mere group hug or is this a kinky menage-a-trois brewing up? What’s certain is that Baz, Kaz and Daz have been tipped as the 3 least popular housemates, so it might just be Shana, Cherise and Daz remaining. Will love conquer all or will jealousy and competition wreak havoc in the lovenest? Meanwhile, the radio continues in the background, playing the same old-skool song: “Where is the looooove the looooove the love”]

Brrrr… Chilly thought. Which sums up BB really…
Filling the minds of millions with insanely trivial and pointless questions, and giving them the feeling of power from their armchairs. Do we vote out x, or y?
Phone now… Your vote will make a difference…
15 minute hate…. And the illusion of satisfaction gained from giving the thumb down to the contestant who annoys you the most…:you_crazy:you_crazy:you_crazy
And all the while you’re sitting in your house, watching another group of people sitting in a house…:hopeless: Trying to gain some meaning from the utterly meaning-less (because someone said somewhere that BB is an interesting and potentially vital social experiment – probably that bloke down the pub:laugh_at:)
And maybe, just maybe some of them will shag on live TV (it is C4 after all)…But that’s not why we watch it of course…
News people – there are far more meaningful and important things happening all around you daily – there’s an entire worlds worth of stuff happening.
And the BB house – it’s all staged and false. You see what the editors want you to see (otherwise you would be sitting 24/7 watching endlessly, at which point there truly is no hope for you:crazy_diz). If you want drama, watch a film, or (gods forbid) a soap opera if you have to. And if you’re there to watch the infinetessimally small chance of live sex on C4 here’s some more news – they have this thing called porn nowadays where there is an infinitessimally small chance of anything but sex happening….:crazy:For the record, I am definetly in the camp of “what is this mindless drivel they are screening in place of good TV?” And I did watch it once – just to see this “social experiment” in action. Kinda reminded me of a school playground, and not in a good way…:hopeless:
