      soccer shame of top-flight director

By Chris Pragnell, South London Press

A HIGH-FLYING TV director has landed a five-year football match ban for terrace hooliganism.

Industry heavyweight Eden Diebel was among five louts prosecuted for violence at a Millwall-West Ham clash.

Diebel, from wealthy Wandsworth, was caught on CCTV throwing coins at Lions fans and cops.

His CV boasts adverts for global brands including Coca-Cola, Mercedes and Smirnoff.

Thug Diebel, 44, was also named one of the top 10 new directors in the world by industry magazine Campaign.

All five hooligans have been handed five-year bans from all West Ham games – the maximum a magistrate can impose.

Rioting broke out during the London grudge match which ended 1-0 in the Lions’ favour in November.

Seats were torn up and thrown and coins thrown at cops.

PC Andrew Wadeson, from the Met’s football unit, confirmed Diebel was a leading television director.

He said: “You get a surprising mix of people involved in this sort of thing.
“He [Diebel] was seen on CCTV throwing coins at Millwall fans, and also at police officers.

      “The behaviour is simply unacceptable.”

Christopher Marks, 25, Andrew Tingay, 41, Vincent D’abbro, 20, and James Baker, 25, were also arrested and charged with public order offences following the Sunday game.

Each was sentenced on Friday and given a five-year match ban.
The banning orders prevent the thugs from going within two miles of the Hammers’ Upton Park stadium.

They are also banned from visiting towns and cities where West Ham are playing away matches for the hours before, during and after the game.
Diebel, Tingay, D’abbro and Baker each admitted public order offences at Greenwich Magistrates’ Court on June 10.

Marks, a salesman from Lennox Road, Walthamstow, also pleaded guilty at a hearing on July 1.

He was given the banning order, sentenced to 220 hours community punishment, fined £1,500 and ordered to pay £100 costs.

Diebel, from Tonsley Hill, Wandsworth, was given the same banning order, sentenced to 150 hours community punishment, fined £2,500 and ordered to pay £100 costs.

Tingay, a stonefixer from Maritime Close, Greenhithe, Kent; D’abbro, an administrator from Bentley Way, Woodford Green; and Baker, a lift engineer from Rockwell Road, Dagenham were each sentenced to 200 hours community punishment.

They were also fined £1,500 each and ordered to pay £100 costs each.
PC Wadeson said: “The majority of football audiences just want to enjoy their sport.

“We know they support all police activity in dealing with violent disorder.”
