Sorry about yet another “heavy” post; but this is a club which is featured on our events calendar; I feel in the interest of safety this report should be shown. This is no reflection on Crossbones or any other promoters who may be using this place merely as a convenient South London club venue, merely a sad consequence of the breakdown of community and society in London nowadays and increasing gun violence on the streets.
It will probably be re-opened for the “drop the bomb” event…. but the saddest part of this is that if the intention was to disrupt people’s livelihoods and spread FUD, the gunmen have achieved their objectives 🙁
Quote:Club closes following shooting00:00, Mar 15 2005 South London Press POLICE have ordered a nightclub to close its doors after it was targeted in a suspected drive-by shooting.Gunmen opened fire outside Club Supreme in Goding Street, Vauxhall, spraying the doorway with bullets.
Nobody was injured in the incident in the early hours of Monday last week, but police believe there is an “imminent risk of serious disorder” if the club remains open.
The same venue was the scene of a non-fatal shooting in December.
Police chiefs met with club officials on Thursday and persuaded them to close the club for a month.
Officers have the power to apply for a closure order under licensing legislation if the club decides to reopen before April 11.
In the meantime the owners will have to implement a tough action plan to convince police the club can operate safely. This will include fitting CCTV cameras and improved lighting plus a complete overhaul of their security policies.
Chief Inspector Dave Musker said the club would face “robust action” unless there was a “clear change in the way it was run”.
The closure came as Lambeth’s Borough Commander pledged to crack down on nightspots that didn’t share his zero-tolerance approach to firearms.
