      apparently the DTI (ofcom) guys didn’t know the raid would be on telly, but I suspect metpol had been tipped off – I don’t think Ofcom could caution people back then (they can now) – a Sikh detective and another Asian bobby wasn’t exactly commonplace in 1987 when Scotland Yard was still in “Ashes to Ashes” mode! (this was off a channel 4 documentary, so the met’s press office would have tried to make the raid look “multicultural”, political spin started around this time…)

      actually I remember now at the time I sometimes stayed with relatives in Wembley and used to listen to this station…
