One end of the “tunnel” emerges next to Tower Bridge on the banks of the Thames in London – the other is next to Brooklyn Bridge on the banks of New York’s East River.

To be fair this is fucking expensive kit and infrastructures (the link alone is equivalent to the power of 150 SDSL broadband circuits) [1]- fair play to the artist and project managers for letting the public play with it..
[1] and if you asked BT for such a circuit you would be talking about the cost of a small car just for line rental as well as about 50 grands worth of equipment at each end, plus the HD camera…

May 23, 2008 at 6:36 pm #1172410near sennen in cornwall there’s an old stone hut with some tubes poking out the wall. the tubes were the original sub-atlantic communication lines. i’ve been there a few times and had a little shout down them but no-one ever answered back from noo yowk

May 24, 2008 at 9:15 am #1172414whats the point of that when you have web cams and video chat O.o …. that technology is like ages old … it’s presented like its a new thing .. the internet is run of fiber opticks @ its back bone and can transfere loads of data not just images … the only diferance is that the images are transfered into data b4 being sent trough the net …:you_crazy ..
