There are a seriously limited number of ways to say hello in an introductory forum and make it sound interesting!

My name’s Els, I live in Reading and pixiegirl advised me to join rather than just lurking about looking for (and failing to find) details of any kind of scene in Reading. Oh how I miss living in London!

So that’s me, nice to meet you all 😉

Hello GloomCookie! Welcome to PV.

I’m in exactly the same boat as you- moved to Reading in Oct for work and heven’t made it further than the Purple Turtle yet. Although- mainly it’s because I have 2 jobs so not much free time atm.

However- if you like DnB I’ve just been informed by a mate that he’s coming from Bristol to play a set at Bar Iguana on thurs night.

Check it out if you can!

Brilliant, I will do, thanks for that! I do like Bar Iguana, there and the Global Cafe have so far been my favourite places in Reading (although the PT and the Oakford are not bad).

Whereabouts are you in Reading?

I lived in Reading for many years of my life and you are looking in the right places 😉

the problem with Reading’s scene is its so close to London – plus the local party venues have been overused over the years – but there is usually a good crowd of people into music and partying loosely linked with the university-based social networks

it was great fun for me when I lived there as I could be a “perpetual student” (from my teens to my thirties) enjoying all the social life without having to do any of the exams :laugh_at:
