      Whats the difference ?
Is it a genre in its own right ?
Does it depend on what country your from as to what you call it?
Is it sub genrefication dissappering up its own arse in hail of pidegon holing?
I dont know ,please prove me wrong with your explaination and accompanying musical example.
      Thanks.

Basically, the word ‘techno’ was first used to describe a musical sound in Detroit way back when.

Don’t know when the word ‘tekno’ started being used, but I guess it was probably when the rave scene hit Europe in teh early 90’s.

Most people who use the word ‘techno’ are referring to a minimal/electronica style of music that was bourne from the Detroit sound (youtube detroit, derrick may, juan atkins, or ‘hi-tech soul’).

Most people who use the word ‘tekno’ are referring to a harder style (e.g. hardTEK) and I reckon the word comes from a more European background (maybe from the likes of Kraftwerk and all those early hard-as-fuck techno heads from Belgium, Holland (aka Gabbaland), Germany, etc).

Don’t know if this is true or just a hunch, but I reckon it sounds about right.

Maybe you could ask here instead (Soitiz – If It’s Techno http://www.soitiz.info) its a techno forum (or is it tekno?).
