That reminds me of the place me and Titch used to work (Titch has just gone back). We had to occasionaly use oxalic acid on antique furniture to remove the stains. After the solution had dried and re-crystalised we had to sand it down with no masks. You could feel it reacting inside your nose and throat!!
Hate to think what sort of risk that was.

October 5, 2007 at 12:32 pm #1121094Because we were well hard.
Nah, the boss was/is a bit of an arsehole. We did have these really shit paper type ones but they didn’t really protect too well and made it hard to breath and caused your face to sweat heavily. I used to just cover my face with my t-shirt or something but the dust probably floated around for a while after.
It didn’t help that we couldn’t open the windows because he’d put wire mesh over them.

October 5, 2007 at 12:38 pm #1121095It was a good laugh sometimes. Especially when the boss was away. We used to royally take the piss with the amount of work that actually got carried out and spent most of the day having a good laugh (it was me titch and two other mates who worked there)

October 5, 2007 at 12:53 pm #1121107when the boss is away the workers will play haha
i find it better being part of a small team, when i was working for tescos the amount of people working there meant that although you could smile and say hello to people in the corridors you were kept to your section and that kinda sucked.
i work for a paintball company now and being part of a smaller team is great, you can have a laugh and piss about without wearing a uniform that doesnt fit!
(plus i dont have to wear name badges anymore, although i did like my chewbacca badge)
