:laugh_at: Don’t get excited, I just had a fun idea for a game to play on the forum. If we could build a setup together it would obviously be difficult to get together and organise.

But IF we could all bring two items to the party, be it an amp, speaker, lighting aray or even a chill van for beers, what would it be? You can olny bring two items so you can’t say “i’ll bring a funktion 1 stage setup and complete sound board” cos that would be cheating. If you have a pic of the item you would bring post it. You don’t actually have to own the item you can go online and find something if you want.

Okies so i’ll start with this

The decks come as a pair where I bought them from so the count as one item :laugh_at:

this (assuming outdoor event with no local power) (or more than one/even bigger depending how big the stack is) As I have not kept up 100% with large sound system equipment technology, but if anyone is bringing nice kit to the party would not want to risk it being blown up by bad quality power.

TBH for some stacks I’d be looking more at this but configured for mobile rather than static use (it is a 20kvA 3 phase). With that, 3 large rigs at different areas of the site can have a phase of electricity each at 230V and 32A. Plenty enough for lots of noise. Lighting rigs should today be using more eco-friendly power like solar + batteries, as the daytime sun could charge the batteries for the night and LED’s are way bright for very little power used.

For curious reasons (the google page in this waterfox/firefox defaults to USA rather than UK) it is easier for me to search for the genset in Dutch as that way I get a correct type for Europe.

lol that would be well confusing for the DJ’s being faced with a technics on one side and a Vestax on the other…. I’d never seen one of them new Vestax decks before though (well not that model). I vaguely remember previous ones a few years ago but they got a bad name as they were prone to misbehaving if there was any RF interference and that era of GSM phones chuck this out by the bucketload.

I’ve used the new vestex decks but the older ones were ok. (the first ones to have the lcd pitch display) I did find that the arms were quite light and when we were using them outdoors a small gust of wind would cause allot of trouble for the record.

Ok so we got a few bits and bobs toghether but its gonna be a pretty quiet party if we rely on the internal turntable speakers. LOL. We need more people to bring things!!

LOL@ sinners lillo. A friend of mine used to always bring his hammock with hime were ever he went (cos he lived in his van) and I got some good pics of us putting it up for public use at partys.

liloo is a bull terrier. Using one as a pillow can be both uncomfortable for you and the dog, and probably illegal where sinner is as they have strong animal protection laws and loads of perfectly serviceable furniture for indoors and outdoors…

the pdx 2000’s are the ones what always mess up (you can see the edges of them in the pic of the mixer), I used to have a pair, the ds3’s the one’s I have now are in the pic of the single deck are actually older then the pdx range and better imo (at least better then the first pdx’s that came out)

On another note vestax mixers are total shite, always breaking. the faders are terrible quality. I had to replace like 3 of them in the first 3-6 months of owning it. It now sits on the side unused as It’s too expensive to replace the faders at something like £50 a pop (at the time). It’s ashame as other then the quality of the components they are pretty functional. You’d be better off buying the mixer and a compleat set of good quality penny and giles faders for it and putting them in to begin with, or even just buying a mixer what uses decent faders to begin with.

Are these not usually just cheap china faders of a standard size, but mounted onto a custom PCB? unless they are some really strange size, usually you can buy the faders from any electronics place and solder them onto the custom PCB. From memory I think the channel volume are log ones and the crossfader linear. TBH even if I were still using vinyl I’d still go for VCA or digital in the “grams mixer” section.

Yeah afaik they are just soldered on, they are a strange size, and there are only 2 non expensive replacements I’ve seen … I think i see some at about £27 once, but didn’t trust them (besides P+P bumped it up like another tenner anyway) and I needed 2 + a crossfader and couldn’t afford them anyway.

is it a VCA mixer or old style analogue? both can often be modded to use less expensive faders if you can get them to fit somehow.

I remember the old vestex faders being crappy. You would often find they would break and not fully kill the left or right channel, which would make for bad mixes.

They are non-vca contact faders. (I think)
