primal visions is a vj crew of me and a few freinds, and i just sorted out a new logo for us. im quite chuffed with it, but it would be phat to know what you all think.
this is the old one:
and this is the crisped up version..
yea, i know, branding ourselves, corporate identity, sellout, blahblahblah… i am hanging my head in shame… :get_you: :devil_wag
i/we have kind of overshot ourselves on the website design, so it may not be up for several years while we amass the knowledge and equipment required. on the other hand, we may well knock something quick and shit up in the next few months 😉 ➡ ➡ ➡ ➡ ➡

i just realised its not really fair putting one b/w and one colour, so here’s the new outline…
if anyone fancys making it into stickers and stencils and subltly inveigling my logo into the minds of every man woman and child in your area in a kind of sub-fascist, sub-concious extension of my wicked, wicked plans, then go right ahead!i wont stop you…

reclaiming the mental territory you mean?
ok then :biggreen:
nice design. what was the inspiration for the lettering?

im all for reclaiming mental tertitory, but lets face it, it would be advertising by another name. in fact this thread here now could be constituted as an advert…could it be that i have unwittingly become my own nemesis, the advertising twat? probably. :coin:
well, basically “primal visions” was chosen because it echoed “native beats” and primal means first, primary, and also suggests a kind of innocence of perception which you get from tripping, or just bein open minded.
in the first one, the primal is meant to look like its carved into rock in a cave or summat, and the visions was meant to resemble or evoke smoke or cloud. the whole contast of the material and the ephemeral
the recent rendering has had some soul ripped out, i m o, but it needs to be crisp to take video effects and ive never tried to make letters just from simple geometric shapes, or even line up properly so….im quite pleased with the mystical properties of the primal, and although the visions isnt so cloudy anymore, it is well symetrical, and looks like a bloke pawn on his own surrounded by gubbins, and that has to count for summat 😉

I tend to go for bizzare retro stuff myself – usually mangling the old ITV regional logos and programme starts (which may be slightly lost on the younger ones though ) although its also more a homage to the days when the British TV industry was worth talking about…
as for random stickers, someone used to go about Reading randomly flyposting a photocopied picture of an alsatian dog. just a picture of the dog, with its tongue out as if it was grinning (like dogs do).
what was strange is there wasn’t any text with it – it wasnt a lost pet, a flyer for dog show, or an animal rights poster – just a picture of a dog.
to this day I don’t know what it was all about. perhaps someone was just very proud of their pet…

or maybe they considered the exact compositional quality of dog and picture to be without paralell, and thought that is was imperitive that they share this phenomena with the rest of society. maybe not…
old tv ripped to shit is brilliant if done well, all i can think of is weather by prodigy at the mo, but its a long list of random people. my harddrive isnt full yet, so any suggestions for oldprogs i may be able to find and rip would be accepted gratefully.
