what operating system are you using on your computer? (if you do not know click the “start” button there is a blue vertical bar at the left hand which will say something like “windows 98”, “Windows ME”, “Windows 2000 professional”, “Windows XP Home”, “Windows XP Professional” – please let us know as this dictates whether your MP3 player needs external drivers or not

unfortunately thats one of the operating systems that can be a bit ropey with USB support.

Win2000 and WinXP are somewhat better at USB support

given that the MP3 player was previously working, did you (or anyone else who uses the PC) install any other USB devices recently?

also what is the make of the MP3 player? (sorry should have asked this last time).

its worth unistalling and re-installing the driver software to see if this makes it work again…
