      Why the hell do the government etc keep loosing peoples data??

      I got a letter last week from the MOD apologising because my details have gone missing on a laptop that was stolen in Birmingham,

      They said that the info that was contained was: My name and address, the details of my family (parents, aunts & uncles etc), doctors details, driving license details, they also have copies of my birth certificate and passport too.

      It takes the piss, they lost this info ages ago and have only just decided to tell me. All they can do is apologise and tell me to keep an eye out for people trying to use my identity. TOSSERS!

        My brother got one of those letters as well. I think the reason data keeps going missing, is because most members of the government are fucking idiotas!!:you_crazy

          My brother got one of those letters as well. I think the reason data keeps going missing, is because most members of the government are fucking idiotas!!:you_crazy

            because they downsized their in-house IT departments who would advise them how to transmit data securely and send it over special encrypted links set up for this purposes

            when the private companies they outsourced the services to offered to do the same thing they charged extra and the govt wouldn’t pay

            Also middle management ranks of civil servants get encouraged to work from home, but the senior managers wouldn’t let them connect via broadband for “security reasons” despite people needing access to some large databases

            this clearly has been counterproductive as its led to unencrypted files being carried about public places as the data is too large to transmit via dial up

            mind you when I used to help squat buildings I’ve found all sorts of “interesting info” in former council places…

                It was something like 40000 people data that was lost, some of it seems quite sensitive really…
