As for weather – some people do get more angry/depressed in winter, (its a known medical condition) but Summer isn’t always that much of a “cure” either.
Although some people become slightly happier in summer others become more aggressive and violent in the hot weather (there is a rise in violent crime and sexual offences each summer).
There were loads of fights in the parks of Essex and Suffolk last year and outdoor summer parties can get a bit sketchy sometimes as the drugs wear off and the comedowns kick in..

TBH this is still one of the friendlier on line communities; things are a lot worse elsewhere (or even out in real life!)
Perhaps a lot of the arguments are part of British culture…
In Britain people value their individual views and positions, but we do like to argue and moan a lot amongst each other instead of looking for a positive solution – whilst in some other countries even if people do not agree they are a bit better at trying to find some sort of consensus or middle ground.
Also a lot of anger comes from insecurity. the world today is becoming a less secure place due to war (mostly conflicts over resources), and environmental damage and competing with others on an individual level for jobs/resources/partners etc.
January 17, 2007 at 11:33 am #1098113I been on here a little while now and in the time i have been here it seems there are little flame wars here and there every so often but in my opinion they dont seem to be happening more or less frequently then when i first got here.

January 17, 2007 at 12:50 pm #1098117Sign o the times, isn’t it? We’re all living amidst escalating tensions, so it’s bound to spill over when people are frustrated. Just like two lovers or freinds fighting – a little spat sets it off and the big issues come barging through the gap.
But I don’t think people here are generally that aggro. Mind you, I haven’t been here long at all, but as a newcomer there’s a nice vibe here, half the reason it attracts new peeps, I reckon.January 17, 2007 at 1:43 pm #1098118I have only been registered on here for a few weeks and have only read a couple of threads that seem nasty. All in all i love this site as 99% of the time people are either helpfull in answering your questions or give you a bit of friendly banter. :bounce_fl

I dont think the site has any more heated threads than before but maybe as I was involved in the last few if I paid more attention to those than others there have been?
There is nothing wrong with debates about topics we dont agree with others on.

I don’t think it’s a good thing when it gets personal and spiteful.

I just think it’s natural for people to get annoyed if they don’t agree with a statement. There will always be 2 or more sides to an argument. So if everyone is agreeing and happy ALL the time then I tend to think people aren’t being themselves and are going with the tide.
January 17, 2007 at 8:36 pm #1098104i go on a few ..the people are all sound ..i think when it get personal like slagging each other off thats not on ….i left a site cos it was ment to be free loving party people an it became a witch hunt …no one is going to agree fully with everyone ..we all have different views on life …. some moderators start to play god an say i like your view better i take your side thats when things get shitty …as long as it dont get into personal or name calling it should be freedom to express oneself and speech …i say what i think thats just the way i is …like it or leave it …but i would never intenshionally upset anyone …raaa i wuv you ….:love:
