      Hi PV crew

Now I appreciate this is a potentially ‘dodgy’ grounds for those of you who like to keep your arses covered from the law, however I ain’t them.

And I’m getting myself braced for the usual round of comments saying ‘you twat, ‘course no-one in their right mind is gonna spill the beans’! – but I am hoping someone can give me info and – if possible – a good contact/s with regards to setting up a pirate radio station. – How to do it, costs, access to equipment etc.

This is a 100 per cent legit request and happy to give email address to anyone who can help me in my quest.

      Safe.

      PD

i doubt you will get any comments like “you twat” here, you’ll get intelligent answers. trollin is what squatjuice is for!

i dont know much about pirate radio i’m afraid, but i do have a question. why excactly? i mean, with the rise of the internet, you can legally run your own station which will be accesible to anyone with a net connection.

not sayin this would be better, just genuinely interested – what are the benefits of settin up a pirate radio over an internet one?

ta Boothy, appreciate your prompt reply. It is specifically a pitare station I am seeking info about due to location/needs. Although I understand what you mean about Internet stations – safer and cheaper, but not quite right for this project.

parkydee – how much do you know about electronics and radio, and how much are you willing to learn?

its actually quite easy to get all the equipment off e-bay and similar places (the guy on SJ who lives in Hull and posts with “……” as his name has good kit to sell) – its not even illegal to posess it, only to switch it on! :laugh_at:

but TBH the operational side of running a pirate station is a fairly complex and stressful affair and theres a lot of techie stuff which if you don’t know about you need to delegate to someone who does

if you fuck up on the technical side you can cut across comms of the Fire Brigade and even aircraft and that is seriously bad news. Plus uk garage youts try to nick your transmitters etc, and DJ politics can cause problems..

the only advantage of a conventional pirate is that you can listen to it in a vehicle or out in the open – but depending on where you are you can get in so much shit from ofcom if caught its unreal…

mate of mine did it, got busted, got fined loads, and also lost out on work on a legal station as they ban you for 5 years… if you’re not worried about this fair enough but you still need to put a lot of thought and effort in…

Depends where you are mate, obviously london, Manc, Birmingham etc. are a lot easier to do regular stuff.

But i live in the sticks, and some mates do radio occaisonally. They never have the aeriel thing up in daylight, and they put it on the roof, tucked away.

I think you would need to know about frequencies and power levels/ranges an stuff, and be prepared to knock the kit down quick, if the feds decide they are gonna have a snoop round.

I’m sure there is info on this stuff, somewhere on the net… try not to electrocute yourself an all! gud luck:love:
