I currently live outside Wasilla, Alaska, and work for the Alaska Railroad from Anchorage to Seward.
I did hop freight trains for 17 years before landing my new railroad job, though.
I acquired “Shoestring” as a hobo name while hopping freights across the country. It’s an old Mel McDaniel song about a hobo named Shoestring that I picked up in 1989 when I first started hopping freight trains.
I’m very shy, but warmhearted and very well-mannered. I’m also very new to this computer scene and my desktop PC I believe is running on Windows “1898” it’s so slow! haha ~~~~
I’ve never belonged to a chat site or forum site and it’s sort of tough for me to figure out how to add in my real hobo train photos as well as my own avatar profile photo. I have no idea how.
I hope to meet a few really nice folks here!

1898? So you have a Gregorian computer. How very steampunk!
Welcome to the vibe dude, enjoy the sillyness and you’ll fit in just fine.December 17, 2012 at 10:05 pm #1264085
Thanks for the warm welcome! I really do appreciate it ~~~~~
I guess I have to be given the green light by the moderator before I can add in my profile photo?December 17, 2012 at 10:09 pm #1264084MC G-TekParticipant

I think I’m getting the hang of this forum now. So, here’s a hobo train hopping photo of me that I like very much ~~~~~~
This is a photo of me waiting on my freight train to leave Fargo, North Dakota last summer. This boxcar rode great since it also poured cats & dogs all that night and I stayed high and dry inside my rolling hotel.December 21, 2012 at 8:55 am #1264080
Cool man. But um I think there is an issue with your avatar. It appears to me like 2 pixels wide? Have your tried resizing it to the generic avatar size as listed on this resize tool??December 21, 2012 at 9:17 am #1264087
It’s also an animated avatar and seems like I can’t get it to animate either???
Okeedokee, “thelog”………….Looks as if I finally got it the way I want it. Thanks for the avatar information and all!

Thanks a lot for that free avatar re-sizer, brotherman! Seems like it worked. Can I also just use one of my hobo train photos as my avatar?
Thanks ~~~~~~December 21, 2012 at 10:37 am #1264081
Yeah you can use whatever you want as long as it isn’t a flash video avatar. You need to be a subscriber to be able to do those.
