MY avita actually sais “wing chun” in mandarin if i’m not mistaken and it doesn’t say chicken chowmaine or something dumb what my mate got his Chinese wife to translate for a joke. ๐
Hmm, my mandarin isn’t so good. Looks right to me though! ๐
How long have you done Wing Chun for? Do you still practise?

I did traditional Foshan Wing Chun for 6 years in my hometown and a couple of years in Bucks. My favourite style is the praying mantis. Love the traditional aspect and there are 16 different weapons that we use.
In terms of what I use when I spar (or in a fight situation) it’s kind of a combination of all the styles I’ve learnt, which I why I left the Wing Chun in Bucks after such a short time. The Sifu didn’t like it when I instinctively dropped Shaolin applications into my Chi Sau or sparring (or that I could have him over!) lol
Ah yeah I’ve had 3 wing chun teachers, two of which do multiple martial arts and one who purely teaches wing chun, I left the pure wing chun classes after a few weeks. You can find that some wing chun teachers have a complex where they think wing chun is the be all and end all of martail arts, it’s not, it’s bloody good but no style is “ultimate”. They all have their flaws and tbh wing chun is so fragmented as a style it’s almost imposable to find someone who knows “the whole style”.

I’ve been doing it for a few years mby 2/3 but in the last year i’ve been plagued with some health issues what’s stopped me learning and doing anything too physical. I still do a bit now and then but my progress is minimal at the moment unfortunately. There are big gaps in my knowledge, but like I say my main teachers have been teaching me other stuff as well so i’ve kinda got basic knowledge of several styles and haven’t really focused on one … when I’m back in “fighting fitness” I’ll be concentrating on wing chun as it’s my favorite at the moment by far.

Yeah, I’m not under any sifu at the moment. Just train what I know. When I fight it’s my own sytle “Chrispy-style”.

Quick Everybody! Give him someone to analyse! ๐
Can’t have me, I’m already booked. Admitedly my therapy currently consists of screaming at road traffic, meditative wind breaking and posting inane drivel here, but I’m making progress. I can nearly clean out ashtrays without pocketing the nubs.
