So I’ve been using PV for about a month now and I’ve yet to find any other users who listen to hardstyle. Anybody else out there enjoy the works of Showtek, Dutch Master, Blutonium Boy and Southstylerz????

I like a bit of hardstyle, don’t really listen to much anymore, as it reminds me of very hendonistic times, but I do like it.

I love hardstyle! Guess I’m not in the loop cos I haven’t heard of any of those names, but bounce to Josh+Wesz, Wildstylez, Shockerz, Headhunterz (wow… I guess with hardstyle it’s mandatory to end your name in a z…)

Henceforth I shall be known as sungazerz! 😀

I don’t mind it and had a stage of being into it a few years back when the illegal scene was more active here but I prefer something slightly slower and more euphoric these days…

I was going to put a link to SLAM FM here but their site is “focking kapot” today (there was some competition to win a holiday to suriname and I think loads of skint dutchies are caning the connections to it) :laugh_at:

I gave up listening to both when riding my bicycle as they were causing me to ride dangerously fast, to the point I was either going to fall off or have a collision, and no way will I listen to it whilst driving a car (a 40 year old gary boy isn’t particularly impressive anyway).

there is actually a whole website for hardstyle from slam FM group, if I give you the main link you are all only going to have to plough through a load of pop dance, showbiz gossip and the usual.

                  SLAM!HARDSTYLE

I think the Dutch have realised the road safety issue too , that genre is popular with mooiboy’s (a combination of a gary boy and a pretty boy) – the slam logo is also what is put on collision test dummies and cars (many of the Dutch do have a dark sense of humour :laugh_at:)

I can’t get the player to work though – not sure why.

for those who understand Dutch (or even if you don’t you might be able to unearth some useful things using google translate) there’s a good site here..

When did you start listening to it? Im surprised you dont know showtek if you’re a frequent hardstyle listener. You should check them out. Pretty much all their songs kick ass and have quite a unique and distinctive sound amongst hardstyle artists. Recommend FTS, here we fuckinn go and we speak music as a few on my faves. PM me if you want me to share more if you like.

Interesting style that I wasn’t familiar with.

Kind of Gabba without the harder base beats… looser but still aggressive pace.

I never really liked Gabba but I quite like this.

I’ve been delving into the marketing and branding behind it to improve language skills and cultural awareness,..

it seems to be a socially engineered form of gabba, Carefully targeted at the younger age groups (16-35 maybe) who think trance is now “too slow/boring/commercial” but dumping the really nasty aggression that put people off gabba especially when some forms of it got linked with the extreme right even during the prosperous 90s. NL (just like this region) has a strong fighting culture amongst young men including as well as fists and feet various weapons including knifes, pistols and even firework bombs carelessly thrown into crowds (loads of young lads manage to put their eye out playing around with these, saw a pretty rough picture on one of the 112 news sites showing some poor bugger having an eye removed at hospital) so if/when it kicks off at a large dance event it really is unpleasant. Seen a few videos on youtube of this… at least folk don’t censor bad news there.

most hardstyle tracks are slower than people think and similar in BPM to faster British old skool rave tracks, so still fit in with pilled up culture.. TBH some faster euphoric trance tracks are at the same BPM.. what is good though is rather than balkanise music scenes scene underground so that events happen in remote and unsafe places without professsional organisers who can deal with problems, they accept the events and carefully engineer them so the youth can get their aggression out harmlessly and usually no-one gets hurt.. dat mag wel 😉

Enjoy:horay: Again PM me if you want to know some more good tracks as you may just find a load of almost generic hardstyle with little variation just scouting the web

To my shame, I blew up a baby on Dam Square on the night of the Millenium. Poor mite was wide eyed but physically unharmed. It was an accident and I suspect the parents put their own brag factor over the safety of the child. It was a complete accident.

You can bet I get a real telling off from everybody over that one. No harm done but it was a very stupid thing for me to do.

I was far from the only person lobbing fireworks around though. Not the most careless… nah, one guy climbing the trees had a load of rockets launched at him, that was more dangerous.

Ancient NL attitude to things what go bang (basically they taught the world how to be suicide bombers) – read below and you will see why they’d rather the young people listened to trance and hardstyle and took pills instead..

When the Belgian War of Independence broke out Van Speijk gained an appointment as commander of a gunboat. Van Speijk despised the Belgian independence movement. He announced once he would rather die “than become an infamous Brabander”. On February 5, 1831, a gale caused his boat to drift into the quay at the port of Antwerp. Belgians stormed the boat and demanded Van Speijk to take the Dutch flag down. Rather than complying, he fired a pistol (some versions say he threw a lit cigar—few if any first-hand witnesses survived) into a barrel of gunpowder in the ships armory, legendary saying “Dan liever de lucht in”, which translates as, “(I’d) rather be blown up then”. The total number of casualties he caused remains unknown: possibly dozens of people. Twenty-eight of the 31 members of his crew were killed in the explosion.

yep its a bit of a bandwagon now especially with SLAM setting up the entire channel for it (the way these stations work is they have a lot of unmixed tracks on robo DJ aimed at DJ’s to buy)

there also are a lot of DJ mixes on mixcloud etc with really good well organised tracklists, as most of the Dutch aren’t still stuck in the dark ages with vinyl gramophone records and they have their metadata well organised and most DJ software does the tracklist for you…………
