It’s a fact that musicians do need a source of income, otherwise they wouldn’t be able to make their music reach the public, and if that would be the case how would we be able to experience the pleasure of listenning to music. To create good music, right after tallent and creativity you need commitment and hard work, long hours to explore it, this wouldn’t be very easy while maintaining a “normal” job.
On the other side, if it weren’t for downloads I wouldn’t probably know has many bands as I do. Eventually I do end up buying CDs if I really like the music.record companies are being forced to change their strategies, which as some of you have already mentioned is not a bad thing at all.
the way i do it is i down load mainly old tunes for free ..but if its a new one then i will most lilkly buy it on vinal .. that way the people making new music are still earning …i also buy old shit on vinal as well if i can find it .. but when it comes to main stream stuff .. or from people that blatently earn alot ..i dont mind dling it for free ..

it’s been ages since i’ve bought vinyls! good times.
well, mainly because the player is broken and no one bothered to fix it.I’m always on a tight budget, so I really have to make my choices wisely, which doesn’t happen so often.

1.start of by reading about an act or producer or hear from a friend.
2.download some tracks illegally to see if i like them
3.if i like them i wont hesitate to purchase them. Generally on vinyl as i can then rip to mp3 or wav. Doing it the other way round just doesn’t work, trust me. countless hours i have tried to magic an mp3 into a lovely 12″ 😉
for me downloading is just like full length previewing. i couldn’t bare to think i did have an original copy of a tune i love.

I like having my music in my hands and looking at the art work on the sleeve / case
and I like collecing stuff and feel a bit ‘cheated’ not having it in ‘real’ life – if this makes sense?

although i never download whole albums so if i like lots of tunes by one artist i will most likely buy the album, and as far as im concerned there is too much money being made by artists these days anyway… we can all make music as good if not better than some of these people, yet they are living it up in LA while we are stuck in our dead end jobs trying desperately to get our music heard ! who is with me !!! raaa

theres a lot of money in commercial pop and stuff, but the amount of labels that go bust and the amount of producers that dont actually make that much in the alternative seen is pretty high i reckon…

HAHA, yeah I read that, was making me crack up. I got all their back catalogue that day they released it for free (valentines day).
