such a shame that the great pioneers seem to have recently lost their integrity when they sold their awesome “save the rainforest” a/v track “Timber” to Ford!!!

Ford Motors of Canada recently offered Coldcut & Hexstatic a substantial fee to use their song ‘Timber’ in a forthcoming Canadian TV ad. Initially the reaction was to refuse Ford’s request – “we didn’t want our music to be used to promote anything environmentally dodgy, particularly Ford, who have a bad ecological track record. And the irony of Ford choosing Timber was just weird. We thought it would be worth speaking to Greenpeace about it as they have used Timber a lot and also we had read about Ford in their last newsletter. Our contact at Greenpeace suggested we could make a useful compromise by donating half the fee to Greenpeace’s ‘JumpStartFord’, a campaign to get Ford to improve their practices.”
