I sometimes get slow response when using the chatroom (both the old and new ones).
I think its lack of capacity at the telephone companies (who still supply the first bit of your broadband circuit) – your actual link to the internet is actually shared with other people so if loads of people are on the net at the same time everything slows down.
It doesn’t seem as obvious on the web as you are not sending or receiving data as constantly (much of the time is spent just reading what is on the screen) but shows up with chatrooms and streaming radio/video
