I’m hoping to raise the pennies to get a kit back and despite having no problems with noise from an acoustic kit, I’m thinking of going down the electronic route so I can transport the midi straight into the PC, find it far easier banging out a riff rather than programming or samples. Anybody using any? Any reccomendations?

I don’t use them but I have a drummer pal who has used them before and is very interested in getting his own set.

Apparently the V-Drums range by Roland are the best way to go. Kits start from about £700 and go up to about £5000 I think!

Yeah, the top end is the 20v or other way round, all mesh heads (nope don’t know what they are in comparison to normal rubber heads but they push the price up! Thing is, if they can produce a reasonable feel, action and response, it’s only comparable with acoustic. Been looking at the Yamaha range too, DTXpress etc, think I’ll have to get my arse up to Norwich and see if I can have a bingo bango for free somewhere:love:

Yeah the sound academy (or whatever they are called now) should let you demo some.

be sure to report back. i’ve always fancied getting myself some electro-drums for vjing thru midi. had a bash in some shop in brighton, was well fun.
