unless your pet is a prisoner in the house starlaugh makes a good point of what may happen (especially if you use a cat).
Quote:CK CK to all units, tagged offender Oscar 9878 is out of curfew area, last position showing as at top a large tree crowcroft parkmore seriously what about if CID turn up at the rave, or its filmed by evidence gathering team or from a helicopter, as most are these days? when everyones spangled, whose out there thinking about where “India 99” is? s
if you’ve got yourself into that amount of shit the cops are going to know what your other activities are, who your associates are – and the smarter cops are cynical bastards who don’t trust technology any more they trust the offenders.
I’m not gonna ask AHC or Mick to say how this situation happened if he doesn’t want to but if I was in that kind of situation I’d just “do my time”.
if you try being a smartarse with the cops and criminal justice system (especially when you are blatantly guilty (like actually caught red handed) they fuck you over worse. in some cases (particularly small drugs possession or low level “property crime” ) they just want you to admit you’ve done wrong and thats the end of your grief other than the criminal record (here I speak from personal experience)
the worst case would be to do it, think you’ve got away with it and then a year later (when the cops finally go through some obscure video footage what was left on a server for months) or some baithead kid has uploaded photos of the rave on a social network and you end up doing another stretch just for breaching the tag..

Even today first thing I look at on the news is the crime and accidents (everything else is usually spin or adverts). I still put as much effort into researching crime as if I was going to still go for that career, and also how the Police and Government deal with the media.
if a crime is even discussed on the media (or potential method shown) it means the Police have already found a way of defeating it.
thats also why there was a virtual news blackout on illegal raves until 2005 or so by which time the cops felt that they had sufficient power to stop them with their updated comms systems and operational methods.

DJ Choci was a excellent DJ. When he lost it on a comedown and beat up a taxi driver a few years back he did real time inside.
Every man feels they are “in the right” when they have anger in their heart and their strength behind them or a decent weapon in their hand. Sometimes the CPS think otherwise and you just have to accept it. An electronic tag is a small penalty in this day and age. Can’t see why he couldn’t play a set at the legal community event as he’s hardly gonna do it again when normal people/coppers would be about.

it took me fucking ages to get the truth out of people who were pussyfooting over saying what the man really did (at least nowadays everyone is more honest)
http:(link to ancient UMR thread)
was up for getting people to support him until it turned out what the truth was
but it was only 8 months inside and then some time on tag. Certainly must have disrupted his career for a bit after that but I’m surprised he didn’t bounce back afterwards (or maybe he was dropped like a hot potato by his co-promoters). certainly at the time no one wanted to claim what he did was self defence
bit of a shame as he was a decent chap who made good tunes but I don’t idolise anybody and if you hurt people there’s always a consequence.

if I lost it on a comedown, went out today and beat some random up and done prison time (not that I plan on doing this) I’d expect the Evening star to find out what they can about me and report “this man was prominently involved with a popular internet website discussing illegal raves and other activities”. I’d expect cops to do a massive fishing expedition, to seize my PC, get a ton of info about who my friends were etc.
I’d expect more negative publicity on raves, more clampdowns and my friends on here and in wider society to be a bit pissed off that I brought it on top for everybody.
I’d expect my mum to see the crime report miles away in Malaysia. I’d also expect that I would have to find alternative employment as my job needs CRB clearance and is not really the occupation for violent thugs.
People would remember what I did or be able to find out about it when I was a pensioner (just think what the google capabilities will be like in another 30 years time!) and not just “forgive and forget” because what I did caused not just myself or the victim pain but affected loads of other people like all violent crimes do.
And yes I’d expect even if I needed elderly care that on my record somewhere the fact I did a violent crime would still be made available to the carers. Whats to say I wouldn’t lose it and kick off again?
Fair Choci may regret it (although he’s never made a public statement to that effect) but he did it and you can never undo that action. the taxi driver may still have the mental scars and nightmares about what happened even 8 years later.
All us blokes will use our agression if we can if unchecked – either by physical force by someone stronger than us, or the psychological control of the worries of being seen as a “criminal”.
to an extent its the stuff like the fact your actions can be discussed online and judged over and over again which stop people being excessive in real life, especally when we all have less and less respect for conventional criminal justice systems and law enforcement, its a form of “self-policing”.
the bad publicity aspect is as much what makes me not turn to certain crimes in my darker moments as much as worries about what the cops/courts would do.
incidentally many people who get done for crime only regret the fact they got caught.
“sorry” is a very easy word to say in the interview room or the courtoom…

there are people far closer to me than a record store owner I met years ago as a naive teenager in London that I have cut out of my life because they took the wrong paths (particularly being bullies/harsh to women), these people I couldn’t care if they lived or died (although dead they would be less of a burden on society).
