I’ve no idea about the actual statistics on what you are saying, but your logic rings true.
Sadly the business end of the police aren’t so much interested in saving lives, as they are in saving face. If they can say that they have closed down an ‘illegal’ rave in their bailiwick, then they have ‘done good’ in the eyes of middle-class little England.
If a rave gets closed down, a lot of people are going to drive around till they find the next one, and the majority of these will be young, inexperienced drivers, who are more likely to have an accident if their journey length is increased. More so, given that they are dealing with roads they are not so familiar with.
Still… accidents in other areas are not their problem, are they?
