depends which society you mean
I think the rural / suburban middle englanders especially those with any sort of outdoors skills or proper engineering will actually survive and even thrive because they or their older relatives have lived through those times before
i.e the granny lady who looks after her garden or the old boy who does his own metalwork and electronics as well as knowing about computers.
They also have the organisational skills to run local communities and to work with the traditional authority structures like the police and military who will protect them from those trying to steal their resources without contributing
also those genuinely living low-impact/sustainable lifestyles will survive so parts of Britain won’t end up like some disaster movie but more like in the 1950s again..
I think a lot of the surplus people will end up just eliminating themselves – some will just give up trying to live…
its going to hit many of the younger people harder than the older people. I think a fair few of our age group and many of the middle aged people are adjusting really well TBH, such as how I noticed loads of people aged 40 or so on bicycles recently – not a club run but going to and from work, and their bikes were obviously the ones they had kept from the 1980s (I know my bikes )
that was the “good old days”. today a lot of people would just use petrol and light half the forest on fire by accident or just shit in the woods and bring things on top for a short term event like a rave or if it were a long term space they’d contaminate the area..
