      Im fine thanks.

Just been busy this year focusing on career, health, relationship, doing house up etc rather than going get smashed and listening to techno all the time.

Been missing going out so much, but been worth it and still getting out often enough to keep me happy – just going out when something on I really like look of rather than just for sake of it like i used too – makes a big difference not promoting anymore on that one as no need to go to nights just cos of the flyering etc.

Tbh not that much goes on that really tempts me out anyway at the moment – not many really hard nights going on, and far too much minimal pish around at techno nights these days imo.

Really looking forward to this Tinnitus gig though – gonna be pounding!

Exactly my thoughts about the boring psy and minimal pish you mentioned!

Sorry, but had to be said. Its awful music – proper lifeless and ‘maudling’

I know the edition I’ve got starts with what it calls the first live DJ performance with Jimmy Saville taking a record deck and a mic to a working mens club in Leeds and playing records and introducing them with the mic to a live crowd – think this was in the late 40’s or early 50’s. According to that edition this can be regarded as the first ever live performance by a DJ and where it all began…

God only knows what they could have been doing 30 odd years before that!

Edit: actually he may have had two decks wired up to reduce time between records, but certainly no mixer

                                  Can’t wait!

                                      Yeah tis a quality read.

Not sure it covers 100 years – doesn’t it start with Jimmy Saville in a working mens club in Leeds in the post second world war era??? Or is that a different book?

Not sure, got a few similar books in my bookcase at home.

Worst – door to door selling restaurant tickets to people who really weren’t intrested round council estates.

Best – prob one before this – researching and developing IT soft/hardware for a market research company – was well interesting – just trialling and demoing software all day and reporting on it to the board – plus noone really could say how long testing of demo software should take so opportunity to ‘take my time’ was endless.

Ok but not great – same category I’d give to all forms of dnb, breaks etc – basically not fast enough and lacking kickdrums – breakcore gets away with it by mashing in gabba, and real old breakbeat hardcore for its classic nature, but aside from that all forms of breaks, dubstep, dnb, jungle etc basically never gonna particularly excite me – and the fact their every fucking where in Yorkshire at the mo is beginning to mean they cross over to annoying me.
