  • Hi,

Is anyone experiencing a popping noise when using a Shure QLX-D with a RSB-2 ref mute switch? Shure has a bulletin that addresses this. I forwarded the bulletin to our AV vendor, but they tell me that the solution doesn’t apply to condenser mics, like the Special Projects 746 that we’re using. I can’t recall the last time I saw a laval…[Read more]

  • Hi,

I found some interesting equipment authorizations on the FCC web site. They were granted in the last two weeks, and the information in the filings matches wideband versions of the SM transmitter, with references to both single (SMWB) and dual battery (SMDWB) packages. I wanted the 250mw capability, and hope I did not miss out on getting both…[Read more]

  • Hi,

Are songwriting deals becoming extinct? Now attorneys are taking on new roles such as pitching, finding collaborations, artists and producers for songwriters for a measly 10% instead of 50. I was wondering if anyone has some experience with this or might know of someone who does and which is the better option for producer/songwriters in…[Read more]

  • Hi,

I’ve seen a few posts on here recently about people (both wt members and congregants) with hearing aids. As a sound tech with hearing aids (I’ll give you a second to recover, it’s not as bad as you might think… lots of experience and several “reference” people to help me when i get a new set), i thought a primer might be in order. First…[Read more]

  • Hi,
I replaced a driver in one of my DB Technologies speakers recently with a supposedly upgraded Eminence driver and when I heard it I wished that I had used the original driver. Unfortunately I couldn’t find a source for the original driver and the repairer that I used to go to has now retired so I had to use something different. Alto TS115A…[Read more]

  • Hi,

Just wanted to ask if anyone has done the audio income project with Recording Revolution and what they think of it. Would love to hear from anyone who has. Thanks in advance for your time. I’ve no experience of the paid courses on offer, but I have been a faithful watcher of most of Graham Cochrane’s site/YouTube video tutorials for…[Read more]

  • Hi,

Sound engineering is a popular course I would recommend that you search for the right sound engineering course here and then you can read the course entry requirements. I would make sure that you can fulfil all (or as many of the requirements as possible) to stand the best chance of gaining entry.

    Please help.
    Thanks!

    I didn’t find the r…[Read more]

  • Hi,

I do video recording for my Church and up until this point we have only had 1 camera, which has taken it audio feed from a mixer via XLR cables. We just got another camera, which i would like to use as a second camera at a different location within the congregation which puts it out of reach of the mixer. So i need to know if the equipment…[Read more]

  • Hi,

I tried the same AU-7900 on my JBL 120Ti’s. The system sounds more detailed, more accurate, and cymbals are outright beautiful. I would arguably say, driven by the same amplifier, JBL 120Ti’s sound better than JBL 4311’s. Yet the 120Ti’s do not sound as lively as the 4311’s. Now I mostly listen to my secondary system in the garage; a pair of…[Read more]

  • Hi,

I read Sound on Sound too. I really enjoy the Mix Rescue column and the Secrets of the Mix Engineers articles. I do think it gets repetitive though – the whole “how to treat your bedroom” type thing. Useful advice I agree, and I’m sure it shifts magazines, but it gets old fast… I just don’t feel there is any kind of amazing advice anywhere el…[Read more]

  • Hi,

What experience have AKers had with the Audio Engine B1. I will be working through the hours of my favorite Public Radio shows, so I will be needing high quality blue tooth for listening on demand. I will need high quality music sound. I have one and it’s much better than a cheapo Logitech. I also like the fact that it has an optical out w…[Read more]
