My brother is a chef… after a stint in London he now runs one of the best restaurants in Auckland New Zealand!

If you are an energetic person who loves food and wont get pissed off with the unsociable hours then do it.

It can be a great career of you are passionate about food. Also there would be a range of jobs to choose from depending on what you prefer doing.And its the type of job that you can travel with and earn money!

Don’t get pulled in by glamorous ideals… the hours are long and hard, you are on your feet for 12 hours at a time..(apparently a lot of chefs rely on their “speedy” friend to get them through..)
Also with the great jobs there are the tedious aspects and preparation as well..

My brother is a fantastic chef… but from my point of view he completely wasted his time in london… he never went out as he was aways working, shifts were so long that when he wasn’t working he was trying to do everyday organisational shit…he never had time to enjoy himself.
One of his more posh jobs was chef at the oxo tower in london… his experiences and hard work have paid off though… with the dream job in NZ.. but again he works the most ridiculous hours of anyone I know..

But he loves it because he loves food.

So I guess you need to weigh up what you can picture yourself doing after the course has finished.. do you have an interest or talent in this area or are you looking for a skill that would give you a little job security?
