I went to a funeral yesterday, My nan’s sisters.
Anyway was a good service and I felt we gave her a good send off.
Anyway when I got to the church we didn’t really have good seats and by that I mean I couldn’t see the main ‘stage’ ie couldn’t see the priest very well.
When the hymns were being sung I noticed that someone had a really high and heavenly voice so I automatically assumed it was the priest.
At the wake I got a bit drunk (ok steaming drunk) and the priest was there. What follows is an excerpt from my conversation with him, I’m probably going to Hell now.
“Thanks for the service padre, It was very moving. Can I ask where did you learn to sing like that?”
“Like what?”
“Like Ned Flanders, I didn’t know a man could sing in such a high pitched and heavenly way”
“That wasn’t me young man and who is Ned Flanders”
“Ah well Ned Flanders is a character from the Simpsons and he sings like a woman”
“Are you insinuating that I sing like a woman young man?”
“Well…Err…No…The thing is…What are you drinking Padre?”
“A Guinness”
“So who was singing then?”
“I don’t know”
“Maybe it was Jesus”
“Do not mock the Lord young man”
“I wasn’t mocking, Lets start from the beginning Padre. Do you want to hear my theory on Jesus?”
“No I don’t”
He took his Guinness and walked away. It was very awkward after that. :crazy_diz

March 13, 2010 at 10:25 am #1224101To be fair though that singing did freak me out a bit. It went right through me.
I also found it a bit hard to enter the church, like an invisible barrier was stopping me from entering.
I’m not overly religious but even I don’t think that’s a good sign.

good one sir!!
At my nans funeral when the vicar man was going on about how lovely knid and careing she was we all began laughing and one said ‘he’d obviously not met her alive’ and the other ‘are we sure we’re at the right funeral’….. he didnt look too impressed,
we all then really laughed when he said about me dad being in the church choir,
dad clarified later in the pub it ‘was before he discovered fags, birds and booze’ 😉March 13, 2010 at 10:44 am #1224105:laugh_at::laugh_at::laugh_at:
