June 19, 2008 at 6:24 pm #1174802Well the first thing you do is wear a big old smile and be as polite as you can. If you can’t manage three plates then carry two. Make the players know that you’ll do whatever they want (Within the confines of a waiter/customer role that is) You’ll probably make a nice bit in tips i reckon! Good luck!
June 19, 2008 at 6:25 pm #1174800just put all the food on one plate then stack the plates … when you get to the table dish it all back out again … just dont get it wrong …
no one wants rhubarb crumble and a stake :yakk:
June 19, 2008 at 6:26 pm #1174806serve from the left clear from the right, if your serving people you should go clockwise around and with regards to balancing plates if you don’t feel comfortable with 3 just take 2.
June 19, 2008 at 6:33 pm #1174799Get three plates now and practice, its really easy!! I used to do it pickled a lot of the time… not a good idea as people never appreciated me dropping stuff on them :laugh_at:
Elements of silver service
- Silver service is always served from the left.
- Meals are served to the customer from platters, not plated in the kitchen.
- The guest to the host’s right is served first.
- Service continues clockwise
- Plates are cleared from the right.
- Glasses are stacked in a diagonal to the right and away, with wine (by course) in order, and then lastly, water glass in front.
June 20, 2008 at 1:10 pm #1174805get 1 plate and tell them to stop being up themselfs and they will eat in whatever order you choose then throw stuff at them and call them repressive class dogs
June 20, 2008 at 1:11 pm #1174798I actually didn’t know what silver service was until I saw this thread.. (seen it mentioned loads in temp agencies and only knew it was something to do with posh cutlery and plates etc) probably because I am a uncultured thug from South London
