hmm – the other Essex Beast sightings are in Mid/South Essex which is a considerable distance from this village…

Great Bentley: Mystery beast in accident

      Comment

A young woman had a lucky escape when her car hit a tree after swerving to avoid a large animal.

The woman, in her early 20s, was driving along Flag Hill, near Great Bentley, at 9.50pm last night when a large cat-like animal ran out into the road.

She told emergency services the animal looked like a massive black cat.

A spokesman from the fire service said: “The young lady was extremely lucky, she was already out of the car when we arrived. The car hit a very large tree and was a total mess.

“The description of the animal that ran into the road sounds like another sighting of the Essex Beast.”

round here they probably did, traffic cops are quite harsh (they even will stop you for not having lights on a bicycle).

Big cat reports are fairly common in this area (and occasionally in Oxfordshire) , although I suspect a lot are actually sightings of farm cats, which can be quite large (particularly Oriental(Siamese) x British Shorthair crosses)

A puma is only about the size of a large dog (and isn’t really a threat to humans, I saw a website from some bloke who keeps one as a pet)

Yeah there have been sightings near to my house in the past! we do have a lot of sheep and pigs in the fields surrounding. I have seen some huge house/farm cats about people must just get confused! :weee:
