The police can be a bit mean sometimes!
February 26, 2007 at 10:24 pm #1100422:you_crazy
i know they are only “doin there job” but they can be rite twats… don’t see why anyone would wanna be a copper anyway, i mean sure to help things that actually pose a danger, but i just couldn’t shut sumthin like a rave down, i’d be against doin it!
February 27, 2007 at 9:24 am #1100423There are lots of videos of policemen playing robocop on sites like youtube and ebaumsworld.
Police violence is not highlighted enough on mainstream TV.
Sites like these will help make more people aware of the problem. And the more ordinary people who are aware, the more the police will have to take notice that they are the ones who are causing the problem, not us.
Keep filming, and keep uploading. Tell the news companies too.
They’ll have to stop one day because we won’t.February 27, 2007 at 12:34 pm #1100421lots of my mates got caught up in that and some crews lost their rigs for two years; they got them back but only after being fined £2000 and getting a criminal record.
AJS – I agree with the principles of what you are saying but activist videomaking was around even in the 90s (although we didn’t have youtube then) the problem here is most of us on this site are progressive in our thoughts, views and actions, even if we don’t claim to be “right on activists”.
The very fact that we support a gathering of of mass trespass on private property (which is what an unlicensed rave is in the eyes of the rest of society) is in itself a very radical mindset.
the harsh reality is that if you look at a lot of the comments on these videos there are as many “normal people” who look at these videos and support the actions of the Police world wide, particularly when defending private property or dealing with “activists” or even wish that they themselves could take the law into their own hands against those they disagree with.
if they were having that much of a positive effect the powers of cops would be being rolled back worldwide – instead they are being increased.
also I suspect the only reason less police brutality is shown on UK telly is more because Ofcom doesn’t like it, not even because the feds want to cover it up.
I was once watching a BBC documentary on operation Trident and there was loads of met giving a black guy a good few kicks as they raided some suspected yardies cars, there was no attempt to hide this footage and this was on prime time BBC telly in 2005..
I think these incidents should be exposed but I wouldn’t count on them instantly changing everyone’s views….
