it is written in the language used in some parts of Scotland, and fairly often on our chatroom when the Scottish crew on here get drunk/high (much of techno4yourhead’s chat was in Scots at the weekend!)

I think the Wikipedia articles use a version spoken even further North than most of the people here who live in Scotland (there are different regional versions)

Actually GL it only takes one scot tae start the rot an wer awa

No need to be less than sober – just need one to get us started as we try to remember that not everyone speaks scots…..:groucho:

And then there are those of the scots who can only just speak english as it is of no use to them where they live…..:weee: and there are almost as many dialects as we have cities as everywhere has its own unique words which dont travel :groucho::groucho::groucho: so its a fun filled maze to get lost in

The scots on that website is the ‘official’ version and will not cover all areas and be universally comprehensible either :laugh_at::laugh_at::laugh_at:Bit like english really…

Language evolves in little pockets of people who then go out and interact with others who , if they like what they hear, will adopt it and thus it spreads [we all have our pet words after all :groucho::groucho::groucho:]

it should not be so difficult for Angel – some forms of Scots are similar in structure to Scandinavian languages …..

very true and we still have old norse words in common use [ the example that springs to mind instantly is ken]

I was thinking the same when I read the link you posted..

Lot of the words are similar to the Danish words..

Just don’t know if they mean the same thing :laugh_at::laugh_at::laugh_at::laugh_at:

Likewise.. I do tend to lose my accent when i’m talking to people on the phone or foreign people.. years of living overseas i think has caused this..
