These have all been reported in the UK since 2000…..
- 5,931 big cats
- 3,389 sharks
- 332 wild boars
- 51 wallabies
- 43 snakes
- 13 dangerous spiders
- 13 racoons
- 10 crocodiles
- 7 wolves
- 4 eagles
- 3 pandas
- 2 scorpions
- 1 penguin
Full article here. Some are doubtless misidentified but a combination of climate change, zoo escapes and the exotic pet trade appears to be definitely increasing the amount of confirmed sightings and even recaptures (such as the Lynx found in Cricklewood!)
September 18, 2006 at 8:41 am #1090025We have a herd of Wild Boar down here, after Animal Lib let them out about a Year ago,apparantly they are well settled and breeding.Should see the state of my mates field after they had been through it though,Dug up doesnt really cover it.

September 18, 2006 at 9:20 am #1090026Yeah like almost 3ft deep in places,just huge trenches criss crossing each other,Have tried to get pix of them before now but they are crafty sods,possibly cos they have been hunted by Farmers and that who want rid of them.

It was killed by a car yesterday..Lot of people let their small pets out in the nature when they get so big that they arent so cute anymore and they dont know how to manage them :you_crazy :you_crazy

Or have a party 🙂 I read on a French cycling group that the mountain bikers welcomed raves as they frightened away the wild boar which cause problems there by destroying the trails…
there is not much livestock farming here (even compared to Essex or Norfolk) but more arable (crop) farming. So large cats do not cause farmers a problem (by stealing livestock) and are even advantageous as they would eat rabbits and birds that would eat the crops…

Unfortunately she cant really afford to fence the place off,well not enough to keep the boar out anyway,on a happy note they seem to be moving further and further away,her field is right next to where they were originally freed from.She not much of a one for raving either (Ive lost count of the number of times Ive hassled her to have a party (:laugh_at::laugh_at:)

and one of the vet surgeries i worked at had a fully grown (5 foot) iguana handed in found walking down harloww high street but he had a collar on and the owners came forward – aparently they walked him on a lead in the summer months

A couple living in Manningtree (just across the Essex border and not too far away from where I currently live) have been regularly taking their pet iguana for walks. Perhaps they moved up this way…

You can add a terrapin to the list as well. A big one lives in the lake opposite my grandads flat!

September 18, 2006 at 10:06 pm #1090022me n my mates once saw wat we thought was a ‘blank panther’late 1 nite it went super speed across the field in front of us sum peps got quite freaked!lol my mates dad seys he saw 1 one morning while workin for the forestry up the moutntain and theres been a few sories n pics in the local paper, think its pretty cool :groucho:

walking ‘home’ along a quiet lane, late at night i surprised it – it turned to look at me, hissed like a domestic cat in a fight and ran
i was about 5 metres away and got a good look…
it looked very like this

September 19, 2006 at 1:23 pm #1090024I read in the paper the other day that a loch ness style creature had been spotted in the lake district. Scientist reckon it could be a giant catfish. Personally i reckon its the lake district tourist board’s p.r team trying to fool americans into spending their dollars there rather than scotland!
September 19, 2006 at 2:57 pm #1090021Up here in Lincolnshire we’ve had 100’s of sightings of a ‘large cat’. It’s been nick named the wolds panther and it makes the local headlines all the time.
I must say I’ve never seen it but there has been a few good photo’s captured!:crazy:
