thanks – looks like un mulot is a wood mouse (apodemus sylvaticus).

I think there are various rodents in the barn next door (this one is fairly knackered and used as a store-room for miscellaneous tat).

I found a random cat in there one night (quite a friendly one); I expect it was looking for these rodents as this place is remote from the rest of the village and cats tend not to bother exerting themselves unless there is something good at the end of it.

Might lurk about with the camera around dusk… Anyone know how to make infra-red illuminators (out of LED’s maybe?) Is bearded-teki around?

would rather use a non-incandescent and more compact light source which doesn’t require 230V… (this barn is full of possibly inflammable tat and the incoming electric to this building is the 1950s overhead cable style..

it is for IR sensitive film but what I am thinking of is that most digital camera CCDs are sensitive to IR (try it with a TV remote control); so you could use a standard IR LED as a “light” source.. (this is how a lot of security cameras work)
