I’ve been to a couple and I am an “stranger” to East Anglia (only been here since March).

I’ve heard a lot of people both in my old area and even locally mock “norfolk parties” but TBH my impression is that they are exactly the same as any other outdoor party in a semi-rural area….

• people tend to be from the local areas and know one another…
• “stacking” or “moshing” happens in SE England as well
• there are lots of younger people (age 14-18 there)
• and the DJ’s often play similar records…

well all of that stuff happened on the Ridgeway and in the Thames Valley/Oxon area (at least when people manage to still get away with parties)

I would say they are slightly friendlier and easier going than parties in other parts of England, but even then there are still a few dodgy characters about and still angry people – but that is wider societys problems creeping through.

The problems with “chavs/neds/pikeys” are everywhere where a bunch of young(ish) people gather.

if the rigs don’t sound as good its simply because the cops had a load of kit off people at the start of the year and haven’t given it back; and there are crews with good rigs who obviously won’t risk them when cops are prepared to go to the trouble of confiscating rigs and even vehicles. Also people don’t earn as much money as they do in SE England so can’t afford to go replacing kit that gets taken (and doing crime to fund it gets you in jail so thats not a sensible option)

the whole UK (in common with anywhere in the World where raves happen) is awash with ketamine as well; because its an “easy option” both for dealers and users…. it is still in legitimate medical use and has a low classification in most jurisdictions so the penalties are less but the profits are the same as selling pills or other illegally manufactured drugs.

People in Norfolk have been a bit lucky as the cops have given them a bit more slack than anywhere else in Southern or Eastern england. Its probably only that its a big place and cops can’t be everywhere at once, its not any sort of acceptance or tolerance of unlicensed parties….

As for the numbers dropping off thats happening everywhere.

its harsh on party drivers now as they have to go hundreds of miles; swallow most of the costs of running the car and have hassle from traffic cops; worse there is always a risk of damage or theft to your vehicle.

If you lose your license then thousands of pounds of your investment of getting it is wiped out as you have to do a retest and the value of your car is constantly depreciating – so a lot of young drivers really can’t afford to take this risk. (LOL I sound like jeremy clarkson and I don’t even drive!)

I know this is all harsh and people don’t want to contemplate it but I think we are coming to the end of the era where it was possible to just turn up anywhere and kick off a party, unless you are prepared to risk months of hassle afterwards…

Everyones in the same situation countrywide (even the Scots and Welsh are being put under pressure – People need to be smarter and more considerate of the bigger picture now…)
