He’s also out of his native country and at an area where random searches would be common; bringing drugs into the protest would be both risky and counterproductive as Chinese authorities could then say the protesters are just a “bunch of junkies” who deserve no platform. Yaba is from Thailand anyway, not Korea. TH is a bit more lax than other Asian nations about drugs (despite also having the death penalty) and is usually put under surveillance from the more controlled nations for this reason.

I find his statement to be quite an amusing yet heartening example of Asian family values; this chap has carried out a very brave protest action, stood up to the authorities in the most powerful nation in Asia; he has risked his life and his health; yet all he is worried about is that his wife would be cross at seeing him on the TV in only his underwear!
