We’re good thanks. Mr and Mrs Bunsen have held on to their jobs and we’ve had a good summer. Baby Bunsen’s growing up fast and learning to swim at the moment…

How about you? How’s academia treating you?

That’s what I thought. I’m sorry to hear it, courrage! We’ve just made it out of a rash of night terrors, being woken up several times a night by screaming doesn’t do much for your sanity…

Did any ones grandad give them Whisky, Sherry anything like that to a teething baby? Or that too old fashioned and un-P.C?

Mine gave me brandy when I was 5 or 6 for a COLD. Wonder what he would have gave me if I were teething.

As a baby used to get whiskey in my milk to make me sleep (and barbituates to stop me fitting when I had a temperature)

Do you think there is a relationship between giving babies alcohol when teething and later in life them becoming an alcoholic?

Same goes for any type. I guess its all conditioning in some shape or form
