Hi everyone. I’ve been lurking here for a while and thought it’d be nice to start posting now and again. ๐
I’m 24 and got interested in the rave scene in my late teens – mainly as a result of being inappropriately infatuated with people ten years older and some strange (unfortunately deluded) part of me believing I could melt their hearts with a knowledge of acid house and old-skool indie. Going to parties wasn’t an option back then, all I wanted to do was sit and listen to them yatter about the good old days until I had the chance to experience something similar myself.
Then I cleverly went to university in a town famous for its nightlife and party scene in the same sense that Al Quaeda are “famous” for their pyrotechnics (it boasted a nightclub voted second worst in Europe by FHM. Enough said??)
Anyway, since finishing studies last year and moving back to where I grew up I’ve finally started to dip my toe in the scene. Been to a couple of events (London warehouse party at NYE and a similar thing more recently in Sheffield) but have never done anything outdoor and free so that’s something to look forward to.
It’s so nice to see forums like this around as an alternative to the vapid mainstream club scene, and I’d love to meet more people who share my interest (as hinted, most of the enthusiasts I know left their smiley-faces behind a long time ago).

its a shame we can’t turn the clocks back just a few years as it was all proper going really well in your area (Bucks etc) just as you were studying hard at uni and unfortunately now illegal events are on full on zero tolerance – you may still get to one but there’s always the risk of an encounter with unfriendly riot police and even your car being towed away, and as the crews seem to lose a rig at each event they might run out of resources eventually…
ironically if you had started partying in your late teens (loads of people did) you would have got to many raves, but maybe what you did paid off as you clearly come across as intelligent and articulate and have got a degree rather than health problems and a drug habit, and you’ve still got loads of time to go partying ๐
Leviticus collective in Luton are trying to do legal outdoor events in this region, and indoor legal events for SE and Eastern England are usually posted on here, usually around Oxfordshire, Reading and Norfolk/Suffolk…
As you’ve already found out most of the remaining outdoor action is happening around the North as as yet the cops haven’t got as much on top about parties (its more remote and land is cheaper there so it may be tolerated for a while more).

I’ve just joined, I haven’t been lurking I’ve just jumped right in!
I’ve recently stopped using another forum after becoming well and truly sick of the vicious personalities and attitudes on there. No need!! I’m hoping to find more friendly party people here.
