I am off to Glastonbury for the first time next year what shouldn’t I miss?
Well…standing at the Glade stage, in its shady corner of the Dance Field, with the Hare Krishna (free) food tent down the way, and the main stage arenas behind you, the real party zone is over there (*points*) at the end of the Old Railway Track. Designed and built by those who know, this leads to Arcadia, Shangri-la, Area 9 and stuff. Raves in crashed planes and abandoned buildings, rigs built into the set, parties until breaking..
Come the witching hour, or approximately 2340hrs, when the main stages finish, most of the site appears to heading for the late night vibe in this area; gets very, very crowded. You, however, can feel safe and secure in the knowledge that you blagged a top party perch ahead of the madding crowd.
Although I sound like a newly-minted convert, I’ve been going to Glastonbury for some years. Amazing how a festival can still amaze after many not-the-first times. And the sight of the site at night, when all the lights and fires and candles light up, is still one of the best natural highs I’ve ever known.
