if the AU scene is anything like the UK scene (and I would guess its influenced a lot by what goes on in Britain) the outdoor ones definitely usually are the safest. In any city anywhere in the world there is a culture where some youth find violence seductive and will try and bring it to even the best run city events…. OTOH few make the effort to travel miles into the countryside to cause any bother…

Yup, the music is the thing that is most influenced by British goings on. I think the majority of trance that you see on sale, for example, comes from the well known club “Ministry of Sound”, everything from the anthems published to hard NRG. Its not too bad, but usually if you want to get certain pieces of music yo have to buy the cd’s produced by the DJ’s themselves.
And its really good to hear that there are at least some events that are mostly stupidit-free, even if it is down in the country side, its really worth going to 🙂
