Training and learning more about profession you want to do is always the best root… you can never know enough and you’ll never know it all…
It seems like you’ve chosen a root to take?…
You’ve semi sorted some training? with jsa,… and litmus…
Establishing your self in Brighton or getting together with some other local artists and putting on some sort of display in one of the clubs? or not?.. generate interest, contacts and support?…
I wouldn’t think that concord, volks or even ocean rooms would have a problem with a music and visual arts display maybe as a day time event???…
You might be able to get a music store to sponser the event?… or even supply the equiptment needed… a charity event?I’ve got the feeling you’ve picked a path, but it’s that you want it all now thing?… You know all the pieces you need to build your picture and there’ll alll drop into place soon…

If you had time with doing your training and stuff, establishing yourself and normal life… maybe getting started to the youth idea wouldn’t go a miss… save doing all the ground work later… and while your contacts, skills etc grow so can the plans to apply fpr premisses within the next couple of years… You should be about ready to train others, ready to move to the next step with the ground work and path laid out already…But then again i’m always getting told that i work on to many things and doing to much… but as i say, the thoughts where there 4-5 years ago… all the ground work done, time to put it to practice!
All the equipment you use belons to others? so is there a group of you that do it together?
I know nothing about nothing and even less about Vjing…
But after reading a bit more i so think a charity visual arts and music youth /community center could work especially in the Brighton area due to their chilled council…
As someones already menioned, Of course it would take a bit of hard work as no one will give you anything for nothing… and to try to pull the community together, stop them picking on the youth and to try to get everyone apart of something positive could be a good thing…
If you could get support from the council… they could donate premisses? would be a bonus, they have empty stock for businesses/ charities, so if you have support from the youth agencies and other youth projects, that might help swing it with them…
Support from Sound Systems, Dj, Club owners, ravers, anyone who could donate their time, Name, ideas, knowlege or other things that could help the bigger picture.. local promoters etc..
And i’ve been told in the right situation to set up Nvq cert for the kids is to hard.
If that was a root your’d be up for taking then i would donate you a free website for the center, and probaly have some spare equiptment (music and pc), and software… that i could let go off and everyone always as favours to call in!I don’t know but with a lot of dreaming, hard work, planning and motivation..
(i would like to point out that i do live in my own little dream world where anything and everything is possible)
A center coulded be opened where you get to help and train up and coming new artists… as well as doing and having what you need to follow your own private dreams…+ it would keep the kids away from the dreaded ASBO’s and police added bonus!… and some point your’d have all the equiptment you need and want..
Just picture it… instead of Fat Boy on the seafront.. you could have the youth of Brighton and surrounding areas.. displaying the skills/ art and music that you’ve helped them create, or have them on the back of a float in a carnival but probally mainly…

The visual displays at raves, festivals and parite????? or am i way off…
Almost a way of advertising/ getting a message/ image across???Doing something for the benefits of others has to be more rewarding than solo projects… but then again, depends on the motives…
Hi… just read that some one wanted there hair braided… In worthing there’s a braiding shop not far from the station… you can have your pick of extensions and colours and there’ll get it done with in 8 hours depeneding what you want… 8 hours for girlies with long full hair…
And Sam the bloke that runs it will be more then happy to pick u up some food or drink while your there…. the pricing is good too, also does kids hair and extensions…

The place gets so busy there… and sometimes when there’s only 2 advisers and 20 odd clients… you know, it just doesn’t add up… plus to deal with each client takes at least 1 hour…No way… See i like the worthing one.
Sorry i couldn’t be bothered to read all the replys in details…
But i wonder if any one has mentioned the funding reference/ grants books that can be found down at the local libary…
The books hold vast information on agencies and and places that you can apply to for funding as long as you met the critiria…
Oh… and it’s always worth giving your local C.A.B a call, i know they hold funding and grant books and that type of information…
i know… someone might come back and say they had a bad experience with one of the bureaus…
But you know what, unless people really want help… there’s no helping them… and others, they just don’t want to accept the truth or they want to be told what to do… they choice is always left to the client to decide as it’s their life.. It’s an information and Advise/ Options service.And being totally honest if anyone decided to put the place down… just rememebr it a none government funded, confidentual, independant service for the people… run by volunteers that give there time up for nothing, each adviser is trained to a high degree above normal standards… they try to making sure that each client has the information to stays within the civil and criminal law and most advisers to their best for the clients, giving as many option as possible and information….
oh and yeah, i admit.. mistakes could be made like in evey other place but on a whole… if people don’t following information correctly and deciding to blame someone else for their mistake or lack of actions… there are not taking responsibility for their lifes and C.A.B advisers only give information and options, it’s down to the client to that the actions.I’ve heard loads of people put the place down but really it is a great service, honestly and truly… go on, believe me…
Suppose sometimes i just find that some people are just to quick to be negative…Go on… surpise me!
Sad… kids on the stretts trying to be big MEN, with no rules… Oh my word, who’s seen “City of God’s”… could you imagine living their… if we’re not careful, seems like we’re heading that way, maybe slow but we’re getting there… you can almost be guranteed that some sad retard is leading these kids down the wrong line, worse still is’t a sad time when our youth look up to people like this and carry out actions like that, deadfull… the hate they learn, disregard for the things that are important till the only thing that means anything is what their gangs think and the MONEY/ DRUGS… It sounds as if some business has gone badly wrong or someones trying to prove their ego is bigger, their a bigger man…
For anyone to know or allow actions like that to happen or even ask them to be carried out…
Crime and Get back used to, in a way be quiet a class thing… carried out in a, to the point manner but respectfully in the way that… most would go out their way to stear clear of weddings, funerals, christenings… school and the parks… Any were that kids were about, the adults seemed to have more class in the way they didn’t have kids invovled in big boys shit… Direct… not just aimlessly in the streets.I know crime is a negative but you know… i’m not anti it… and at times for different reasons it can be acceptable and maybe the best option… but hell, to going causing misery, fear, sadness to all around on a large scale than it first appears… to try wiping someone out completely?…
Not even our law says is that bad to be exucuted for, what ever happened to just putting them out of action, stopping business… Humans are worth a bit more than just a bullet?.. not all problems are supposed to solved straight away.It is time the community to together as a whole to look out for each other and to make sure that the power freaks don’t win… Scaring them into doing nothing, Damn, what’s the worst that could happen?… sounds like it’s happening already!
My heart goes out to those poor people… Bless them xxThe thought comes from an event 7 years ago… were i believed if i keep a balance and faith… Amongst the negative a positive would accour… A negative course or action could lead to a positive event in years to come…? and if all else has failed and the final option is a negative, suppose the two could make a right and if not… make me happier and it’ll stop the pattern…

Ummm… i’m also supposed to state where i’m from… (not information for you stalkers out there :o) but i’m from west sussex… just near Brighton…
