February 11, 2011 at 7:37 pm #1235047I was listening to kool fm and cahtting to a load of people in the chat room last week and they were all getting hyped about rasta mouse. :laugh_at:
February 14, 2011 at 11:53 am #1235044People have been slamming it for being racist and encouraging slang use in kids!
I think it’s got a pretty good social message behind each episode and it’s good to see something other than the usual White-British/American ethnocentric cartoons we generally see being pumped out in the masses.
February 14, 2011 at 8:22 pm #1235048yeah i was listening to talk radio earlyer in my dads car and they had a massive discussion about it … some black dude in his 40’s said him and his mates all sit about watching it (they don’t even have kids) and find it hilarious – but not racist in the slightest … :laugh_at:
February 15, 2011 at 8:15 pm #1235051Ahahaha, Awesome!

NO BLACKS, NO GIPSYS, NO MICE.
February 15, 2011 at 10:03 pm #1235040my sister and her husband (both in their 30s) have been watching this every time they get back from work (they don’t have kids either)…
its like something you would have seen 20-30 years ago – the accents are more Kingston on Thames than Kingston Jamaica but no way is it racist – TBH its surprisingly good and puts across a positive message without being twee or cringeworthy like most modern kids TV is..

February 19, 2011 at 9:21 am #1235052This article sums it up perfectly: THE BBC’S NEW CHILDRENS SHOW ON RASTAFRAIANISM AND CHEDDAR, REALLY? – there’s a link to an episode you can watch for free too (might struggle to watch it outside the UK).
A genuine attempt to teach our kids or a gimmicky way to boost ratings? Personally I believe an honest mixture of both.
February 19, 2011 at 1:43 pm #1235041mice can teach humans a lot about multiculturalism, we only say they are vermin because they compete for our food..
Over 50 species of rat and mouse co-exist peacefully in the jungles and paddy fields of the Phillipines, and across SE Asia..
