Thought i’d introduce myself. Here’s a bit about me… ๐
I’m a 22 yr old lad from Telford, Shropshire, West Mids.
I’m a bedroom DJ (not a very good one!) who loves his House music, aswell as a bit of old skool rave (classic house, breakbeat hardcore/jungle etc..) I love my music, and i can sit at home and listen to the stuff all day long. I’m proud of my vinyl collection, which i mainly acquired through my older brother & my old man (who were both really into the rave scene years ago). Its not the biggest collection (about 250-300) but i’ve got some great classics and rare ones in there, spanning quite a few different genres, aswell as the more recent House records ive brought myself.
I’m one of those people that you meet who bangs on about how gutted he is that he missed out on the 90s scene as he was too young. Why oh why did i have to be born as late as 88? ๐ฅ I get dead jealous when my oldest brother (who is now in his mid thirties) talks about raving it up in the early 90s at places like Kinetic and Shelleys in Stoke ๐
Basically, i’m fed up of generic local town centre nightclubs, playing their shitty RnB and cheesy chart stuff. Considering the size of the town, Telford is awful for underground dance music. pretty much non-existant. Just your typical crappy mainstream-music-playing clubs.
SO…. i’ve come here in search of underground dance nights/events, and to get myself ‘in the loop’ so to speak.
Anyone else from anywhere near me? Can anyone recomment any decent House or Old Skool nights/events in the midlands(ish). I’m very interested in the free party scene too, but i guess i won’t get much info on that until ive been here a while. Is that sort of thing big in the West Mids these days? If so, what sort of numbers can it pull in? Is the scene in decline/on the rise.
I just wanna go out raving with good people, at places with a positive atmosphere and real underground music.
Anyway, thats enough about me for me. Sorry for the long post and questions. Looking forward to getting stuck in here ๐
Roll on the 3rd summer of love, if only for my sake ๐

House – old skool/classic, funky, soulful, deep….. not realy into the hard stuff these days, although still got a pretty decent collection of 90s hard house viny
also like –
old skool hardcore/breakbeat hardcore (don’t really like new ‘bouncy’ hardcore, most of it sounds too cheesy/poppy if you catch my drift?) don’t mind the mid 90s Gabber though
acid house
old skool jungle
drum n bass
90s Garage
90s Trance (yeah i love 90s dance music, theres something about it that pisses all over todays stuff)dislike-
grime
dubstep
uk garage
etc….but as i said earlier, mainly HOUSE ๐

Couple of quick questions…
Is there much of a free party scene in the West Midlands?
Can anyone recommend any decent licensed nights/events for underground house or old skool?
Cheers
