going for 256kbps, that seem sensible?
October 2, 2011 at 12:30 pm #1245436I allways go 320 (or the max possable) as mp3 wrecks the sound and I like to claw back as much as i can with higher bit rates. It’ll still be a much smaller file then WAV.

good price indeed, sadly, wedding to pay for and currently living on benefits so I can but dream. But I have decided to encode in the higher quality and to hell with it!

October 2, 2011 at 1:34 pm #1245433maybe if you point out to your dad that you can do backup copies for him of the music (or one day he may want to move away from CD’s to digital playout) then he might help you out with the cost of getting the hard drives? he must enjoy music in the first place to have the collection…

mp3, wma, wav yadda yadda. Had too many random file types, thought it was time I made them all the same
February 3, 2012 at 7:30 pm #1245435Not much point converting from lossy formats to FLAC as the damage to the audio has already been done (the reason MP3 etc are called lossy formats is that part of the data is irreversably lost). The FLAC won’t sound any different to the MP3 so may as well not bother.

yeah, fucking massive mate. But a vast majority of my tunes are good quality, I troll for tracks that have as little distortion as possible……OCD!!!!
