      Hello People

I thought I would just give this a little try and see where it goes.

My band “Goldstar” have been formed for just over a year and we have played all over the East Anglia region of the UK, rocking out venues with our selection of 60’s to Modern Day, Classic Rock and Rock n Roll music covers.

We would love to try something different and we suggested to try getting a few gigs in Holland just for the experience. We have had superb success at the venues we have played at so far in the UK and wondered how to go about getting some gigs over there.

I don’t know how well or easy covers bands go down in Holland, but would appreciate any advice from anyone who’s gigged there or knows any contacts of how to get a gig or two over there please.

If you want to see what we do, our website is http://www.goldstarband.co.uk

Thanks for your help, Kind Regards

      Owen

I’ve only got limited experience of the guitar-based music scene in NL and still haven’t had a chance to visit the country itself, but the impression I have got is that particular music scene tends to revolve around volkslieden sung in the various dialects of Dutch (such as the band Skik singing about a bike ride in a dialect that many native Dutch speakers from the West of the country were struggling with as its a wierd mixture of Dutch and German). Although English language content is popular they get a lot of it via mainstream media – and there is also EU funding for the local language stuff..

BTW Holland is only part of the country, the entire nation is the Netherlands. Although its often accepted as a shortcut term for the whole of NL some people in other areas do not like it – its like when Americans use England to refer to the entire UK (which pisses off the Welsh and Scots).

That statement it’s self has probably pissed off some Irish people. 😛
