OMFG my cpoy of Novation V-Station has gone up the spout. It was asking me for the keygen code again but I couldn’t find either the readme file telling me what to do nor the original zip file that contained the way to crack the program. I remember it being a bit confusing to unlock in the first place but cannot for the life my music remember how I did it. Anyway the H20 crack version of it is no longer available. I’m guessing daftfader found it for me on demonoid or something:(

Everytime I load a project that uses Vstation potentialy crashes my DAW, no samples willm play and the bar that scrolls accross the pattern editor to tell you what part is playing won’t even move. The only thing that works is the clock. 🙁
So anyway I have downloaded a new version of it (infact it’s a newer version that is slightly better too) and am in the process of loading every project replacing the V station with the new version and saving a NEW copy of the projects. It is taking a long time cos every time it loads a project I glitches out like I mentiond so I am having to keep closing the DAW and re-opening it.

Ok so it has kinda worked but I have lost all of the preset sounds and automations for the V-sation samples in each project. Well the automation patterns are still there but they are not linked to the new version of V station. I’m sure there is a way to fix that. But making the sample sound like they used to is more of a challenge. It is gonna be a right pain in the arse fixing everything cos I have over 50 files to go though. Some projects have up to 10 difrent save states that I have had as back-up.

I have even deleted the old version of Vstation now because it was causing me complications.

My poor music. a large percentage of my tunes used V station. It did happen before but I restarted windows and it worked again. Well this new version seems more stable and also I bad bass station now too so I gonna try that out now.

I am observing a moment silence ian a few minutes (1200) all PVers ont on duty are expected to attend

Wounded mate. Although my technological expertise is somewhat limited so im about as useful as the guy that walks over and merely points out the problem to you, as if you hadn’t already noticed lol

I wondered why I was struck dumb for a minute at midday. Now I know.

Sorry to hear about your hassles chief -here’s a possible workaround that might help you get out of that situation in future.

          1) Decide what Operating Systems you want. Take a couple of hard disks, install on one, install your programs. Copy to the other drive. Keep that as an archive.

          2) Anytime in future you get an issue with a corrupted utility, remove the internet connection, boot with a utility DVD, copy the files from the master copy (which is never ever written to) and then re-connect the internet, go Update the Operating System to current standard.

          3) Keep all data projects ON A SEPERATE DRIVE THAT YOU BACKUP.

Currently going though my data archive – approx 200 Gigs, and only about 40 of that is music (I’m a pack rat for data on weird stuff).

But it’s very unlikely I’ll ever lose data. And quite frankly I have accepted that malware and similar is a part of the net. So my development kit is ALWAYS OFFLINE.

Can’t be hacked without resort to The Force or similar cool psychic powers. Once bitten, twice shy…

next time bounce to audio once you’ve got the sound right and the notes how you want them .. that way you have a hard copy and if your vst fucks up it doesn’t matter you’ve got that track in audio anyway (this will also save you a shed load of processing power if you do it for all your midi tracks).

I do have the wav files from some of them, like the ones on my soundcloud, but allot of my unreleased stuff never got rendered into wav.

LOL my unreleased stuff, I feel all famous al of a sudden : P

nooo I don’t mean bounce down the whole track, but the individual ones inside your DAW .. and work in audio for that track … say you are using novation for midi track 5 … bounce down midi track 5 to audio inside your daw and then it’s set in stone.

Try reasoning with it and if that fails kick its fucking head in!

Nice – a blend of psychology and extreme violence never fails mate.
