      ๐Ÿ˜€ Hello people,

Just thought I’d post a thread and say hello to everyone as I’m new to this whole party vibe forum thingy. I’m a drum and bass lover (by the way I’ve just got some decks and have no idea what I’m doing, so any tips would be appreciated!!). I have a crappy job but live in Brighton which is wicked. I also love funk and hip hop and anything that’s got googly eyes!

Laters and love to you all

Here’s my reply back at last, I’ve been ill the last few days so haven’t had a chance to post another msg (maybe its cat flu?!). I’m really crap and can’t remember the exact model details of my decks but they’re the numark battlepack ones. Obviously not top of the range but they’re doing me just fine at the moment and I think yes its true the only way I’m gonna get any good is to just keep at it…………………..what music is everyone else into?

              :p

hope you are better now; some nasty bugs have been going round lately…

yes the best way to learn is to keep trying – but its like learning to ride a bicycle; once you learn how to beat match you won’t forget it and its easier after practice to adjust to different kinds of decks.

I’m also mostly into drum and bass – there has always been a big following in Reading, and we have (or used to have) plenty of really good free parties in the city with all the fun of London warehouses but a fraction of the beef..

Thanks for your comment, I’m starting to feel better but mainly suffering from dizzy spells which are rather unpleasant!

So you from Reading? Did you ever got to bassheads at the matrix? I loved that night, it had such a cool ravey atmosphere and we always had such a wicked time. I also used to go to checkpoint charlie at the after dark a lot, also lots of fun with some excellent after-parties.

                    So you been dj-ing long?

I currently live in Reading but am originally from London. I don’t mind it here; people are friendlier and there are less shootings.

also learnt about 14 years ago – although I would say it took me 2 years to learn the basics. TBH I haven’t played for ages; I took a big step back from partying hard a couple of years ago as it was getting a bit much and stuff like geting employment etc had to take priority, and haven’t really kept up with record buying for years – but on the rare occasions I do spin a few tunes I can still mix fairly well..

I actually never set foot in the Matrix; we had way too many brilliant local free parties at that time (1999-2001) and I always found the Matrix way too commercial and full of bouncers, cameras and CID posing as bouncers – most of my friends got barred from there at least once!

                              I’m still rubbish ๐Ÿ˜‰

I don’t ‘keep up’ with record buying… or buying all the newest tunes… I tend to just buy a few tunes every now and then and not pay any attention to when they were realeased or what genre they fit into… all that’s important is that i like them and feel that they last and be played for more than a few months

simple beat matching you can learn quickly [1], but I think mixing is about choosing an interesting combination or surprising selection that no-one else has tried

                              but that’s just me

although quite a few well known DJ’s never bothered… DIY Jack
